The US President is as much of a cowboy as he is a war hero.

Wearing a cowboy hat and decorating your yuppie pad on your yuppie ranch paid for by your Connecticut daddy doesn't make you a cowboy, no more than getting a gig in the National Guard courtesy of same Connecticut daddy makes you a war hero.

The only reason he is considered to be a cowboy is because there are so many idiots in this country - and overseas - who believe the yarn this Mama's boy has spun about himself.

I think we need sub-fourms within this fourm:

- Talking about George W. Bush

- Operation Turn That Sand Into Glass! (anything to do with Iraq)

- Friends of ConcordeBoi (gay stuff)

- The USA sucks, Europe rules!! (you know it's sad when a continent has to come together to feel superior to one country, hehe)

- Everything else non-aviation

- - -

It'd make things so much easier....

Let me quote the top seven facts about cowboys and then you may apply them to GWB:

They were never looking for trouble.

But when trouble came, they faced it with courage.

They were always on the side of right.

They defended good people against bad people.

They had high morals.

They had good manners.

They were honest.

I appreciate the abstract idea of what a cowboy is supposed to be. No problem there.

The trouble is that this idea is not real, nor is it possible to translate it into our complicated real world 1:1. Being a hero in the real world is much, much more difficult than on TV. You can strive for an ideal, but you can´t just act like it and hope the real world will play along like a movie script.

And that´s what Bush doesn´t understand and why he´s failing on all fronts.

As far as I know, a cowboy is paid to keep cows.
That would be a great job for Bush.

Not necessarily... More and more of the cattle seem to start breaking free of the herd and looking for their own way recently...  Wink/being sarcastic

One problem with those cowboys, L-188: they didn't have the fate of the country in their cowboy hands, did they? They weren't sending men off to war over false intel, then making up new excuses for his war as he went along, did they? They didn't tried to keep everything they did a secret, lest the world found out what a hypocrite and a liar he was, did they?

This guy is a cowboy, to many, but not for the right reasons.

And you're getting further up that Cowboy's hat. You've lost all touch with reality, as far as President Bush is concerned.

Airmale:

Actually, I AM Uruguayan, and I DON'T hide behind any flag. BTW, I would appreciate if you took the time to correctly write my country's name... Sorry, that got to me. Want proof? I was born in Montevideo, I only live in Lille.

Plus, PU151 stands for the morning flight to Buenos Aires by Pluna, Primeras Lineas Uruguayas de Navegacion Aerea. Happy now? Or will I have to show you my passport? Big grin

And, about the first post, I was trying to be sarcastic, that is why the smiley's there it took a completely different turn afterwards, but that's not my fault.

You stand corrected.

Edit: I've just modified my profile so this kind of stupidity doesn't happen again...oh, and BTW, it must be my nationalism, but you owe me an apology.

Bush is a cowboy? He couldn't pull down the most docile calf if he tried. New England rich boy who's never had a real job in his life.

I wish I could put this in real small print though. I regret to inform that I will cast my vote this November for the K-Mart cowboy. More as a vote against that JFK fool though, and with major regrets.

Did you ever hear the story of the lesser of two weevils?

Then again, cowboys are not known for their knowledge of international matters. Big grin
I feel bad for the US if Bush is elected again, what will he "accomplish" his second term??

How come that fool is the only one in his family of fools that speaks with a Southern accent?

(In addition, Southern Baptists are OVERWHELMINGLY white, not black. I believe American Baptists are black.)

He's banned (I don't know why), but I sent him a personal e-mail to try to work things out. He responded, but no apology on that one, I sent him another email offering to get over it because this is leading nowhere...I'm not that much of a nationalist Big grin , so if I don't get an apology it won't trouble my sleep.

BTW, I'd like to say I think I was a little harsh on the response, but what he said got me mad... really mad.

Thank you Jaysit, Superfly and others for pointing out what I've said to friends and others all along.

Bush ain't no Cowboy. He is a Yankee old-money aristocrat.

Dubya's blood is far more Yankee and bluer than Kerry's. He is an old-money Eastern Aristocat, whose father emigrated to Texas and became part of the Texas Raj.

He went to Philips Andover and then to Yale. His mom speaks with the Connecticut lockjaw of his class. Sorry, he ain't a cowboy.

BTW, There is nothing wrong with being a blue blooded aristocrat, wish I were one, but what bugs me is all those photo ops at his "ranch" (which he bought in 1999 - he never cleared cedar in his life) and all his aw-shucks folksy packaging never gets challenged. And why did he not have that big an accent twenty years ago or when he was governor. Why don't his brothers, also jes' raised in Wes' Texas, not have accents at all? OK Maybe one or two words, but they all sound like newscasters, as did Dubya until he began to run for Prez. Did he take dialect classes?

Again, I'm not getting on Bush for his background, I *am* getting on him for the mendacious, and frankly Clintonesque way he spins a background that doesn't exist that never gets put into the public view.
