German Recipes

Sun May 16, 2004 10:49 pm

I was rereading the "Do You Like Germany Thread" and got in the mood for some good German food. For whatever reason, there aren't many German restaurants in NYC. So if you have a good recipe for German food, post 'em!

Unfortunately I can't cook, therefore I can't give you a recipe.
I always wonder why the most Non-Germans think of southern German food like the recipes on the posted site (srbmod). The German cuisine isn't really exquisite, but it is very diversified. For example in my region of Germany is asparagus and also fish very popular.

look at http://www.recipezaar.com/r/15/119/429
or http://www.recipesource.com/ethnic/europe/german/indexall.html though also rather southern style cuisine

Try to look for the recipes for some good Northern (Hamburger Aalsuppe,Labskaus, Grünkohl mit Pinckel) or Western (Himmel und Ääd, Muzen, Rievkooche) German dishes.
I do not know if you can find them in English though and since you are Jewish, I do not know if you eat kosher. But then some of the things are off limits.

Where have all the tri-jets gone...
