Hey Derico, Mendoza in Chile? I think it is not such a big problem, at least not if you compare it with the Colombian map on that same web page (San Andres Island in Ecuador mainland and Providencia Island in Peru manland just to name two) These guys al world66 have a lot of work to do!!!

 Wow!

It's not only Mendoza, they placed Rosario in Paraguay... now that's bad.

It seems that the website is kind of a amateur or enthusiast project, so I guess such gaffes should not be surprising. They certainly need to be corrected though. Cheers.

I'm sure there are plenty more mistakes for other countries, not just in South America. In Ecuador's map, Guayaquil is placed nowhere near the coast but on the Andes, and aparently Guayaquil is in Peru.

And then for my country Malaysia, aparently "Sabah" is a town just slightly north of Kuala Lumpur. What??? Sabah is a Malaysian state on Borneo Island, across the South China Sea from Kuala Lumpur, some 3 hours' flight away. It's like labelling Honolulu being in California, just north of Los Angeles  Smile

For USA : Las Vegas is in the same spot as Mexico City, Houston has moved places with Dallas, Austin is now in Canada, and Lansing (Michigan) is now in Arctic Canada in Yukon.

This website is based in Holland. So far I couldn't find anything wrong with their own country. Pitty that they know very little about the rest of the world.

According to their map on Spain (http://www.world66.com/world/europe/spain/lib/map), Toledo is now located on the Atlantic Coast in Portugal, skying in the Pyrenees mountains of Jaca is no longer possible as Jaca has equally been 'moved' to Portugal's coast, Tarifa now forms part of Northern Africa and Spain's 3rd largest city Valencia is non-existant. Also, last time I checked, world-famous Segovia with it's aquaduct was just north of Madrid and not in Portugal.

Absolutely disgracefull for a travel-site!

Well, in the inflight magazine on Kenya Airways several major cities were submerged in the ocean, some cities had skipped the border into neighbouring countries and others had simply disappeared!

Guys, the site clearly indicates that it's in beta.

I for one don't know what being in 'beta' means, N6376m.

Derico, Beta is applied to something that is in testing, and not in definitive version yet. Nevertheless N6, the mistakes are GROSS, Beta or not. Come on, imagine what Windows would look like if they had betas like that!  Nuts

Edit: forgot a word...

"Beta" in computer lingo means under development. You'll often hear IT people saying that the release is in Beta. It's a stage of development where a program has been created but there are still known bugs that are being worked out. The beta release is usually released to people outside the creating organization where as the alpha release is usually just released internally.

For example, my company is a beta site for Microsoft's Business Solutions software. We get the new updates anywhere between 3 to 6 months before they're issued to the public. We use the program and report the bugs we find. In exchange we get free MS support on our software.

I could tell the site was rough, and I did cross my mind they were still developing it, but you are right the mistakes are kind of scary Embarrassment. Thanks PU151, I had never heard of that term used!  Smokin cool

Yet another new respected user... (sorry PU151, I know it's hard to believe but I just recently discovered that rating, and it was there all along! Geez to me...)

 Innocent

Edit to thank N6376m for the tips...

 Big thumbs up
Che Derico

Not such a big deal, this week on local TV paper there was this new abou Argentine tourism agencies selling Torres del Paine as a part of Argentina! and this is worst because it was made by you people! In the 80s, there was a big fuzz because France released a stamp with the image of a Moai (statue of the Easter Island) as "French Polinesia".

This things just make me laugh, and face it, Mendoza was founded by Chilean governor Garcia Hurtado de Mendoza, and it was a part of the Capitania General de Chile, before the Virreinato de la Plata was founded. So, Mendoza WAS Chilean... maybe this is not because of the beta version. Maybe it's just a trip to the past (or who knows, maybe to the future-just a joke)

Have fun, maybe some day we will found the "Republica del Cono Sur", o no, Federico?

HA... maybe it's a trip to the past...

It's funny this came up Arcano, Mendoza is turning clocks back 1 hour on Sunday for the first time in over a decade, other provinces may follow, we'll be on your time zone and not Buenos Aires. So Argentina is returning to Multi Time Zones!!!

You know, because Argentina is running out of gas, oil, fuel-oil, farts, and all other sources of energy. Lovely.
