Ike On A And E

Wed Jun 02, 2004 5:24 pm

If you saw the A and E movie on Tuesday night, June 1st, 2004, "Ike:Countdown to D-Day," what did you think? I only saw the last 30 minutes. As much as I like Tom Selleck the actor, he is not the actor I think about when I think of Ike, but what I saw of the show, he came across fine. But I think that A and E could have made the movie four hours instead of the two hours just because of that enormous event (planning on the evasion of D-Day). Also, does A and E plan on replaying both this movie and the preceding two hour biography on Dwight Eisenhower? I would only guess they would seeing the 60th anniversary of D-Day is just a couple days away.

I saw it and loved it. Tom Selleck's performance was spectacular.

I agree that it should have been longer, it would have been neat to include the actual invasion of Normandy within the movie. But oh well, it was still fantastic.

I'm glad to see Tom Selleck in the public eye again. I recorded the "Reversable Errors" TV movie a week ago too. I didn't care for that one as much as Ike. Ike was fantastic.

If you didn't know, a new Magnum P.I. movie is in the works...a theatrical release. Originally George Clooney was to get the role of Magnum, but Larry Manetti (who played Rick in the original series), raised a stink about it and said it would be outrageous to not have the original cast in the new film.

After that Tom Selleck is now trying to get the role and it appears that they've decided to award him the role after all. I'm glad, because it isn't Magnum P.I. without Tom Selleck.

the movie is supposed to come to theatres sometime in late 2005 or mid-2006. And yes, the latest model of the Ferrari will be used. Big grin

Maybe they ended "Ike" the way they did to keep the door open for a "Part II?"

This is the first I have heard of a "Magnum" movie. It would be best if the original cast were the stars of the movie!
