10 Reasons To Defeat Bush

Fri Jun 04, 2004 11:01 am

1. Bush is destroying workers rights and outsourcing jobs instead of protecting the right to organize and creating new jobs rebuilding schools, bridges, roads and hospitals

2. Bush is privatizing Medicare, Social Security and public education with phony reforms instead of enacting health care for all, protecting retirement funds and full funding for public education through college.

3. Bush is bankrupting the Federal Government with giant tax cuts for the very rich and super-funds to the military instead of securing the budget for human needs by taxing the rich and spending on human needs.

4. Bush is rolling back civil rights gains instead of enforcing and expanding affirmative action to end racism in all areas of life.

5. Bush is curtailing women's rights and choice by undermining Roe v. Wade instead of upholding the right to choice and ending the gender wage gap.

6. Bush is abusing immigrant workers in low-wage jobs instead of providing a clear path to citizenship and equal rights.

7. Bush is exploiting and ruining the environment by protecting corporate polluters instead of conserving our natural resources for the public good.

8. Bush's war in Iraq is a disaster for our security and economy. He is pushing for more preemptive wars and for first strike nuclear military policy instead of negotiations and cooperation utilizing the UN.

9. Bush is denying civil liberties and free speech in the name of fighting terrorism instead of repealing the USA Patriot Act and helping cities, towns and states fund firefighters and police.

10. Bush discriminates against Gays and Lesbians with a Constitutional Amendment instead of expanding civil rights and liberties for all.

Okay, obviously I don't buy into such nonsense, but here is a question for everyone. However, I know many Democrats here do agree with some or all of the above.

So the question is, this is a party's platform. Who's is it?

My top reasons why he needs to go:

He chokes on pretzels
He lied about the war
All time high gas prices
He can't pronounce words
He can't speak correctly
He is way too arrogant and cocky

I agree with 2,3,7,8,9, and 10.

1) He is not repsonsible for outsourcing jobs

2) Affirmative action is stupid because people should always hire the most qualified and productive workers

5) No clue

6) Refer to 5

1. Agree. although a certain amount of jobs will always get "outsourced". There's not doubt he's killing workers rights and safety rules. NO doubt of it.

2. Agree 100%

3. I agree he's ruining the economy, but with huge deficits. In the middle of a major war, fighting it on two fronts, and to be giving out huges tax cuts that benefit mostly the wealthy, is economic insanity.

4. It's time to end affirmitave action. But he and the GOP are trying to push back Civil Rights 40 years. Of that, I have no doubt. If it weren't the case, the GOP would not be full of white southern men.

5. I don't think women's rights and abortion go hand in hand, to be honest. If I were a woman, I'd be more worried about economic rights, and I don't think Bush is doing anything to endanger that.

6. No opinion on thatone.

7. Any president who lets polluters, who were recently fined by Congress for polluting, write new laws on pollution standards, is an idiot. And that's what Bush is doing-letting those guilty of polluting write the regulations. What a joke. He's undoing 40 to 50 years of excellent envionrnmental work, in a short amount of time.

8. ABSOULTELY. Iraq has made us no safer. Iraq has alienated the U.S. from a goodly portion of the sane world (fuck those who don't ever like us, no matter what we do). He's throwing billions down the drain, that could have been used at home, or to fight the real terrorists. He's lost all the goodwill that we received from 9/11. His supposed "strength" (and GOP strength), of foreign policy, has been an unmiitigated disaster in the form of the war in Iraq. On this issue, should he be voted out of office.

9. To some degree, yes. The Pandora's Box has been cracked open. If the American people allow this box to open further, it could mean the end of the Bill of Rights somwhere down the road.

10. The GOP fear of bending over in the shower is becoming National law.

You forgot to add these...

11. He's singlehandedly destroyed American goodwill around the world..

12. He's divided America like nothing since Vietnam or the Civil War.

13. He's violating the Constitution by permitting the joining of Church and State: Faith Based Initiatives.

14. All Campaign funds he accepted from Enron ought to be returned.

15. He needs to be hauled infront of the 9/11 commission ALONE and his testimony placed 'On the record'.

Is that the Green Party platform?

To me the reasons are simpler: he lied about the case for going to war, he attacked a nation that posed no threat to the United States, and he did not finish the real war on terrorism in Afghanistan.

Someone please point out to me a credible source (such as Congress or an exectutive branch employee or something like that) stating that President Bush knowingly lied about going to war. Please. I want to see the proof of the thing I've heard so many accuse the president of, and of which I think is a very serious thing to accuse anyone of.

It doesn't matter if he lied or one of his agency heads lied. No weapons were found. End of story. (And I don't count a few meansly little shells).

If someone could actually prove this I'd actually start listening to all of you. But you can't. Too bad. Bush in 04.

I think we have another winner:

"It's time to end affirmitave action. But he and the GOP are trying to push back Civil Rights 40 years. Of that, I have no doubt. If it weren't the case, the GOP would not be full of white southern men."

Would that be why Bush has more minorities in his cabinet than anyone ever?

You all felt into B757300's little childish trap. He took this list from the American Communist Party.

So, if you agree with any of those items, in B757300's twisted mind, you're guilty by association of being a communist.

Brother...

Hey B757300, why don't you go back reading your favorite British tabloids?

A lot of B757300's reasons aren't true, a lot are just as much the fault as the democrats (Kerry voted for the so-called Patriot Act) Example - Bush couldn't stop outsourcing even if he wanted to, the genie is long ago out of that bottle.

My reasons are similar to what Boeing757/767 said.

He said Iraq had WMDs and was an imminent threat to the US, his Veep said over and over again that Mohammed Atta met in Prague with an Iraqi diplomat. Both not true. He had no plan for after the war, he relied on the neocon wingnuts and yahoos, who have this naive grand master plan for the Middle East that is so patronizing and smacks of something out of 19th century London or Paris. Gotta break out my Rudyard Kipling, and who may have unwittingly given Iran who the hell knows what through a confidence con man wanted in Jordan for bank fraud, He did this because operatives in the CIA and State didn't tell him what he wanted to hear (OK Tenet gets a shitload of blame here) He failed to finish what he started in Afghanistan (a legitimate war, they did harbor the people who attacked us) and that country may drift into chaos. He failed to finish it because of Iraq. In the corporate world, the board of directors would or should fire the CEO for that. It's a grand fuck up - whether or not you feel it was legitimate going to war in Iraq.

The rest of the world hates us, and while a country should base its foreign policy on its own interests, not those of other nations, even Machiavelli said its smart to build alliances.

He is busting the budget, spending like a drunken sailor on shore leave, and even conservatives are saying "whoa."
And frankly, while I respect anybody's right to his or her faith, I'm getting sick and tired of getting preached to all the time by him. I don't need a sanctimonious lesson in God and morality every time he makes a speech.
I may be ugly. I may be an American. But don't call me an ugly American.

On that, I beg to differ. He did not lie about the case for war. The intel WAS wrong. He bought it, the Democrats bought it, Powell bought it etc. But what make me mad at him is, that, when we finally figured out the intel was a lie that he didn't go before the world and say "The intel was not accurate, and for that I am deeply sorry. We cannot, in good conscience, withdraw from Iraq, and we need to make the best of the situation that we find ourselves in." I still wouldn't have agreed with the war, but I would have gained a lot of respect for him for doing that. But instead, he makes up a new excuse each week, it seems, as to why we went to war, and the WMD's which the UN passed a US-sponsored resolution on, and which Powell made such a big presentation about, were forgotten by the Administration.

He didn't lie about the original intel, but he wasn't man enough and big enough to admit the mistake.

Well like it or not.....Bush WILL be re elected in Nov. He is unstoppable......

Incumbent presidents with negatives in the polls approaching 50% aren't exactly "unstoppable", and rarely win re-election.

My reasons why I'm not happy with Bush-

1. He's not a fiscal conservative in any way, shape or form
2. He doesn't work with Congress well.
3. Conquering Iraq has not made us any safer
4. The TSA. 'Nuff said.
5. His immigration proposal was just wrong
6. He has not supported his federal judge candidates like he should've (especially Estrada)
7. His administration flat out lied about the true cost of the new Medicare drug entitlement

He's been an okay president, not great (like Reagan Big grin ), but the simple fact is that Kerry is worse.

I want Thomas Sowell or Ron Paul to be my president.
