How Is Your NFL Team Shaping For Next Season?

Sat Jun 05, 2004 2:56 pm

The Bills are looking allright. A few good additions and only one major subtraction (Winfield), and of course Reuben Brown doesn't count, he was great for the community, terrible for the team, just past his prime. It should be another tight race in the AFC East, what else is new. We'll see how things go.

The Bears are startin to shape up. Im excited about Lubby Smith! He will be a complete change from Dick Juron. Dick wasn't a bad coach i don't think, i just don't think that he worked very well within the bears system. He was a bad bears coach i mean, but he's probably a decent coach when he can work within his knowledge of the game. I'll be interested to see whom the bears choose as their starting QB. Also, Lubby has a very good knowledge of how to play defense, and how to use defensive weapons successfully. I think the bears will at least have a winning season, which usually means making the first round of the playoffs. We shall see how it turns out.

Next year should be the year for the Seahawks.

Holgrem is on a roll from his home undefeated season, filling gaps where needed.

Last year I predicted an undefeated season. I batter .500 on that prediction.

But the same no doubt will be the same this year!!!

Dolphins look good this coming year. The addition of Boston was HUGE! He takes the pressure off of Chambers, which will in turn take the pressure off of the offense, free up Williams and then have an explosive offense. I hope the settle their QB situation tho.

one team that will surprise everyone next year is Arizona. Boldin/Fitzgerald=Carter/Moss. Denny Greens the coach too. look for a great seson out of the cards.

The Falcons look to be shaping up into a team that will hopefully put last year's debacle of a season behind them. I am still a little bit nervous in regards to Jim Mora as a coach, especially since he's a rookie head coach. Same is true for whoever is going to be the #2 QB behind Michael Vick; early word is that 3rd round pick Matt Schaub from Virginia is the man currently penciled in @ #2 since he played in a similar offense @ UVA, with Ty Detmer being the third stringer; the current depth chart on the team's website has Detmer @ #2, with Schaub @ #3. I'm still a little worried about the O-line as well; they look to hopefully be improved under new O coordinator Alex Gibbs. New Defensive Coordinator Ed Donatell will hopefully make the same type of impact here as he did up in Green Bay. I'm not too worried when it comes to our cornerbacks, as DeAngelo Hall (#1 pick this year) and Jason Webster (FA out of SF) look to be tough for opposing WRs to beat. I can say that this team looks to be a lock for the playoffs this year, and if Carolina's success last years turns out to be a fluke, look to see the Falcons to win the NFC South.

Well the Packers wont be as good as I'd like but I guess they'll still be better than the Bears, which is already worth more than a winning record.

If the Packers can't win it all this year, I'd be happy to see the Seahawks do well. I like their new jerseys.

Okay, I admit it. I am a fair weather football fan but as long as the Giants, Bears and Redskins do bad, I am happy.

The Patriots have won 2 of the last 3 Super Bowls, and have improved significantly with the addition of Corey Dillon and Rosevelt Colvin back from injury. They had a great draft, I was suprised Vince Wilfork was availible at #20. It should be another strong run to to playoffs.

Hopefully Ty Law's ego will settle down a little bit before the season.

How bout them EAGLES!!! We're looking pretty good for next year, having picked up T.O. and Jevon Kearse to anchor both offense and defense respectively (hopefully Kearse won't get hurt)...despite the loss of Taylor and Vincent in the secondary we have two young but experienced backups to fill in in the name of Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown, so our secondary shouldnt be all that affected by the loss of the Pro Bowl vets...Emmons was shipped off to the Giants at LB and we ended up getting ex-Giant Dhani Jones to fill in at LB, so no big deal there...

Offensively, besides the acquisition of T.O., the offense remains much the same, with the exception of Duce Staley, who heads cross-state to the Steelers...this isn't a problem because of Andy Reid's "running back-by-committee" tactic, so we still have two capable backs in Correll Buckhalter and future superstar Brian Westbrook...

As long as McNabb stays healthy this year, I'm feeling optimistic again...this will be the year the Eagles finally get over the hump and spend Super Bowl Sunday on the field in Alltel Stadium in Jacksonville, playing for the Lombardi Trophy...

srbmos, Been a Falcons fan 4evr!! It is hard sometimes being a native Atlantan, because I don't have another team I would pull ofr. This year ought to be pretty good. Just remember to sit in your lucky chair holding on to your lucky talisman (if you need a rabbits foot let me know) because this will be a season where as long as we stay healthy we will do well. Mora has the benefit of coming into a situation where the team has some real talent and a couple of real superstars, with more in the making. Just keep Vick healthy while he is doing his thing, and let the defence gel.

As mentioned above, the Bears look better this year with improvements in the offensive and defensive lines, altough they still have some holes to fill in those departments. The QB is going to be Grossman, no doubt. RB should be interesting with the addition of Thomas Jones. Will he take over the starting spot or share time with Anthony Thomas? Lovie Smith should have the team fired up and I expect they'll do a little better than last year. Probably 9-7. And they will definitely beat the Packers at least once this year.

Well with my New York Football Giants being able to get Eli Manning and Kurt Warner, it should be a good year for them at the quaterback position. The problem I see though is that they need to get some good line men to protect the quaterback. Other than that, I think the Giants will make a resurggence and hopefully beat the Cowboys and Eagles.

Hey eagles Fan. Kearse's numbers have gone down every year in the league, and T.O. is going to be a cancer. Go figure. He is ALREADY complaining about not getting the ball enoughtimes in mini-camp. IN FREAKING MINI-CAMP! Welcome to that nightmare Eagle Fan.

The Browns, on paper, are vastly improved on offense. Theyve added Kelvin Garmon, OL, who was blocking for LaDanian Tomlinson the last few years in San Diego; Fullback Terrelle Smith came over from New Orleans, giving them the first blocking back they've had since the days of Kevin Mack; they do have a better QB in Jeff Garcia, who already seems to have the offense in a different mode than in years back; they drafted Kellin Winslow, Jr, who gives them that premier Tight End that can open up the field for the talented corps of recievers they have. They drafted what they feel is an impact Safety, Sean Jones from Georgia, who was thought to be a late first round prospect before the draft.

They still have loads of questions though: when will they get that vital left tackle? Who will be the featured running back-Lee Suggs or William Green. Can Garcia stabalize the QB position, until young Luke McCowan comes of age in a few years? Can Courtney Brown stay healty and show the brilliance he showed until being injured last year. Can they improve their tackling in the secondary?

This is THE year for Butch Davis-not to win a title, but to simply prove to ownership that his way is the right way. After a disasterous campaign last year, he has to improve by, I think, 5 games at least, and at least make a serious challenge for a playoff spot, or he could be looking for a new job come the end of the season, which would be fine by me.

The honeymoon's almost over here in Houston, the Texans need to show some improvement and contend for a playoff spot. Last year was ok (I think they finished 5-11), they lost some close games to good teams, so fans are expecting to win some of those type games this year.

QB David Carr is ok, but need to stay healthy, RB Dominic Davis had a great rookie year, but could have a sophomore slump, WRs Andre Johnson and Jabar Gaffney need more touches for the offense to click.

I don't know much about the defense, but from what I heard, they didn't improve too much, although they had injury problems last year.

Rams released Warner which is a great call IMO. He is Cancer, he lost the only games he played which were like the first 3 then Bulger came in and took us to the playoffs. Now that he has more experience maybe Bulger will take us to the finals. I think we also did good in the draft so, lets go Rams. My pick this year is Rams or Patriots.
