War On Terrorism: Who's Winning?

Sat Jun 12, 2004 1:05 am

http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/06/10/powell.terror.report/index.html

So, who's winning? I'd like to say that terrorists are loosing, but since the administration said that the numbers showing a decrease of terror attacks throughout the world was a proof that war on terrorism was successful, and now they appears to be wrong, can one conclude that it's the opposite: Terrorists are winning???

Is this the phenomena of media, the more attention terrorists get in media, the more terrorists crawl out of the woodwork?
I mean, whenever you hear about some sick young student shooting his classmates, there seem to be another one doing the same thing just the week after.

Or has the war on terror been wrongly focused? Has the aim been more to deal with the current terrorism situation instead of working more on the depth of the issue, preventing terrorism?
Read between the lines.

Nobody wins in an unwinnable war - all you can ever have is a tie.

There is only a comparatively small war part within the global fight against terrorism. And ignoring the 95% that are not militarily fought will surely lead to a military defeat as well, in the long run.

neutral countries!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Why don't they make a big football (soccer) championship against each other, and find outh that way.

Possible teams:
Al Kaida
Bush-Americans
Anti-bush-Americans
Blair&friends
FRance, Germany and other europeans anti-warists
Arabs
Israelis
Palestinians
axe of terror-nations
etc etc

that would be a friendlier world...

well... lets keep on dreaming... :-(

Of course, to hear CNN, the evil American Empire is losing.

Try asking the soldiers.

I´ve watched too many interviews with US soldiers deployed in Iraq saying "Screw this nonsense! Get us out of here!!" to still believe it´s a coincidence.

Considering they´re threatened with a court martial for openly dissenting with their civilian leadership, they´ve got guts to speak up that way.

By the way: It´s not the USA that´s an evil empire, it´s the neocon occupation of the White House. And seeing them crumble does indeed warm my heart. America deserves much, much better than that!

I have friends over there. The only thing that pisses them off is the heat.

The journalists seem to have missed your particular friends, apparently.

Read the Patriot Act -- the terrorists won.
Never let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Well, the winners are CNN, BBC, Fox ! LOL

Arrow, as much as we don't want the terrorists to win... the Patriot Act does look like a war disaster coverup...

What confusing times...
