More Simpsons Aviation

Mon Jun 14, 2004 9:10 am

Watching the Simpsons right now, they're on their way to Dayton, with a stop in Nome...... Homer's wondering what kind of airline routes all their flights through Nome, Alaska, while Marge explains that it's "their hub"..... missed the name of the airline though. Anyone know? Thanks!!

Ever see the one where Marge is afraid to fly due to the fact that her father was a male flight attendant. That was a classic!

Or the one where they reroute all the air traffic over their house. I think it was Lisa who said..something like "American Airlines Flight___from Seattle, late as usual." I can't remember the flight number however.

Lisa says:

"there's the 10:50 from Newark ... the 10:52 from Pheonix, connecting from Dallas ... the 10:55 from Portland is running late, AGAIN!....There it is, hahaha"

Also concerning that episode, the bit with Lisa standing on top of the roof with a rake screaming "This is not a Delta hub!!!" was removed when it was shown a few weeks ago. However, Prof. Frink's comments about Usair remained...

"This is not a Delta hub!!!" - To me that sounds like good publicity, how many people watch the Simpsons now (A good few million in the USA alone) so why would they remove it, I find it terribly amusing.

Anyone know what that episode number or name is?

I saw this episode last night. Very funny! I also like the Seinfield episode when they are on the plane. It was called "The Airport". Anyone know when it will be on?

A few Simpson's tid-bits....
When the family goes to Epcot Centre they ride the Eastern Airlines "Ride of Tomorrow" and in another episode they visit an U.S. Air Force Base, the base sign reads U.S. Air Force...Not affiliated with USAir.

It was probably cut for duration of transmission reasons. They often cut or add a couple of minutes in TV shows.

Actually the sign reads: Springfield Air Force Base... Not affiliated with U.S. Air Force

Has anyone seen the episode "Mr. Lisa goes to Washington"?

When the Simpson are on the plane, Bart keeps reclining his seat, while the guy behind him tries to work on his laptop.

Homer keeps pressing the flight attendant call button until he hits the button that drops the oxygen masks. At that point everybody in the plane starts running around yelling, "We're all gonna die!"

Doesn't Springfield Airport have Air France and several Air India flights per day?

wonder what the O/D traffic loads are like for those flights.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I remember the Eastern ride. They have an Eastern airlines robot attacking people. That was good.

Or how about the time when Apu was married (The Two Mrs. Nahasapeemapetilons / 5F04):

"Which bombay to Springfield flight is she on? The 10:00, 10:15 or 10:30?"

Is that the episode where they go to see the airshow and Side Show Bob threatens to nuke them if all of the media doesn't go off the air? Then he kidnaps Bart and they fly in the Wright Brothers plane?

Does anyone remember the episode where Homer is looking for a bar to drink at, after getting kicked out of Moe's, and he goes to this Pilot's bar called "The Little Black Box" and after claiming he was a pilot gets picked to fly to Chicago (don't know if it was ORD or MDW) and when he is in the cockpit says to the co-pilot, "Umm.... I'm Going to let you do most of the work" and then pushes a button that brings the wheels up while they were on the ground. Later on in order for I believe Crazy Crown Airlines gets free tickets to any where in the country except the freak states (Alaska and Hawii). I think that is the one also with Marge running through the aisle.

The most recent one they showed.
It included a bit of tRUMP Casino at Atlantic city.
And I love how they redone "Catch Me If You Can" Intro with the music and the pursuit of Homer and Marge by Lisa and Bart.

and of course, the bit ends with Homer snoozing while crapping in the airline lav..

Classic.

Actually, SD330PSU was right, the sign read, "U.S. Air Force Base...not affiliated with U.S. Air" - and it was the episode where Sideshow Bob threaten to nuke the airshow.

And the trip to Australia where they fly "Transhemispheric Airlines" and it shows them flying upside down as they get to Australia...classic...

There's also my Simpsons' theory involving UA...in a lot of the episodes, the books in the lampstand right next to the couch have the colors and angle of the UA logo...coincidence or no? Very subliminal if it is...

Isn't that the same episode where Homer finds out that the US Embassy in Canberra has a special device to make the flushing toilet water churn in the same direction as domestic US toilets (something about coriolis force, but I heard that was just an old wives' tale)? And as he looks into the flushing toilet, a teary eyed Homer sings the last couple of bars of The Star Spangled Banner....

There was an episode where they fly JAL (on standby) to NRT, and the plane gets attacked by Godzilla hehe.

I love the Simpsons - but they aren't on TV in France (at least not on the channels I get). Sigh.

What´s great on that episode is the captain´s voice and calm.

"ah.....folks, we´re experiencing some mild Godzilla related turbulence..."

And of course: "Welcome to Japan folks, the local time is....tomorrow."
