Hi lee!

How are you? Fine I hope.
Where exactly is Farnborough? I mean where do I have to fly to. It's gonna be a daytrip for me if I go. What does a ticket cost for the show?

Best regards,
Sander
I love both Airbus and Boeing as much as I love aviation!

Hi H.

I asked her before I posted, and she said the 25th.........but either way, I'm off both days that weekend so I'm easy.

I knew you said you were coming, but I didn't want to ASS-U-ME, as you know what that means in Aviation.  Laugh out loud

Sander,

The best place to fly to would be LGW or LHR. They are closest to the airfield, but both will involve either a bus or train journey of some sorts. Tickets cost approx £20 to get in. I can collect you from either if you are coming. Let me know.

Glenn,

Nope, thats cool. We will probably have to arrange to meet when we are there, unless you know some fixed location that we could specify in advance.

I'm not foo familier with the layout, only been once.

Lee,

If I go I'll probably fly to LGW with BA. I'll arrive at 7:10 and my flight back to AMS will leave at 19:35 the same day.

You can still collect me there if I go? Otherwise how long will it take by public transport?

Best regards,
Sander

hey, I won't be there but the best landmark to meet is down the street from Barrons BMW agency. It is a short walk to the main entry gate from there and busses to the train station are easily found near there. Your other best choice is to park down past the gate almost to Aldershot where you will find carparks with shuttles to the show.

OK, I booked my flights folks! I will be at Farnborough. Flying with BA 737s to LGW. Anyone knows it will be 737-500s?

Is there anyone who is going to purchase tickets for the show in advance at the gate this week? Saves 5 GBP.

Best regards,
Sander

What is the seat pitch, comfort, and food like on-board, Shamrock?

Can our friend Sander expect to be well looked after on this flight?

I would too, but 1 week in advance BA has the better fares. Thanks Declan. I checked it at the Oneworld website. Outbound will be a 733 and inbound will be a 734. Damn! Can't I never get a different type out of AMS?!
The seat pitch, comfort, food and the F/A's better be good for what I paid.  Laugh out loud

Oh, well. It's the first time I fly with BA and it's just a 1 hour flight.

He's right - SAA pilots seem to have an amazing love of flying 350 ton aircraft at M0.8 at 30 feet agl. Must all be ex-Mirage pilots.

Ive seen these SAA guys throw a 744 about and its amazing, they treat it like a fighter jet, showing you moves you never thought was possible.

We are aiming to get there as close to 0900 as poss subject to Sander's flight being ontime, if it is we might be there before that.

We will have to arrange a meeting point on the day I guess as I'm not too familer with the layout.

Everyone has a contact number for one or more people that are coming don't they ?.

Sander, I hope you enjoy going in the nice car.

As for me, I will arrive (with another airliners.net member) in something less stylish at 0900 - subject to not breaking down on the way.

Weather is looking good:

09:00? You crazy mofo's! The flying display in the past has only started at 2pm. We'll probably only leave at 09:30 ish.

Anyway, once we are all there, why not meet say under the nose of the DC-10 at 12ish? Im easy, it's all upto you.

Hi Guy's
I went yesterday on a trade day (much more fun).
Here are a few tips for you. If you can take the train do it as it will save you so much time and hassle it will cost you £4 for a return ticket from the train station (North Camp) and you have your own separate entrance at Farnbourgh (trust me on this it is a major plus).

For those of you who are driving try parking at the Holiday inn it will cost £11 (this was a couple of years ago so prices may have gone up) But it has security and is only a 3 minute brisk walk to the crossing bridge.

security is going to be very tight so only take essentials sun cream, (nothing worse than seeing a sun burnt aviation geek) camera, drinks, & food preferable in plastic bag. If you are going in a group draw straws and have the loser carry all the stuff through in a back pack.

Prices for food and drink are very expensive £1.40 for the worst filter coffee I have ever tasted with UHT milk. The cheapest Sandwich was £2.70 I am not sure what the burger vans will charge and unless you are feel very rich don't offer to buy a round it costs £2.90 for a pint of stella!!!!

But my best tip is ENJOY

regards

Alex,

We were going to arrive early so we can have a good look round the halls/static a/c and get some freebies before they all go, then we could sit and watch the whold flying display when it starts.

We will be at the DC-10 at 12.00 then if anyone else wants to meet up, so you can have a look round in peace !!!.

H,

Did Z tell you that we will have to meet you there as we are going to LGW to collect Sander first ??.
