I'm debating whether or not to start using creatine, and have a few questions for those of you who do use it, have used it, or just know alot about it. some friends of mine have told me that it has caused 'erectile dysfunction' as well as other related side-effects (size?). I have read about the other supposed side-effects but have not come across any scientific talk of this so I was wondering if creatine usage is at all related to these problems, and if so what percentage of users would you say that it affects...also would you say that creatine is worth it? thx.

Creatine is the most accepted and most proven supplement that works. There are thousands of studies on it. There are no side effects. You must cycle it though, 6 weeks on it, and 3 weeks off it, so your body does not stop producing its own creatine.

If you read on the labels, it says "load" for a week or so, that's a lot of bunk. Tale 5g before a work out and 5g after you work out.

Creatine, slows the lactic acid in getting to your muscles. So you can crank out a few more reps. Creatine does however cause you to carry water. If you are looking to get shredded, you may not want to take it. You will see definant size put on in 3-4 weeks. Most of it being water though.

I recommend it 100% if you work out. You may be in the small minority in that it may not work for you, but there is only one way to find out.

Creatine is creatine, buy whatever brand you would like. Avoid Cell-tech. That is just a high priced brand. Go for the best mono-hydrate you can find. That was the first creatine I took.

I personally like Optium's Creatine/Taurine/Glutamine. Taurine helps the body sythensize the creatine more affectively.

Diamond can elaborate a little more I'm sure, if he reads this.

Lots of people use it, but one word of warning.

If you have ever had any kidney problems, or reason to suspect you might be weak in that area, then be cautious.

Not that I have any personal experience, just relaying some advice I was once given by a friend of mine who was a champion bodybuilder. Anything like that should only be used if you are confident it won't aggravate a condition which might not have surfaced yet.
Lead me not into temptation, I can find my own way there...

If you can get your hands on last month's issue of FLEX, it has a detailed article on every type of creatine.

I should add, if you get a creatine that is not micronized a side effect may be diarrhea and nausea

AA61Hvy, correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall a study that found that after one used creatine, the muscle in your heart walls was replaced by a less efficient version of that muscle, thus putting you at a higher risk for cardiovascular problems.

Garnett- I thought I may have heard that a long time ago, but I think if anything its more of an urban legend. I will look for some info about that.

I use the gym and do weights, but yeah, like everyone I get tired and sore.

Do you know what creatine products are sold in the UK and if so, where do I get them?

A friend of mine in canada takes it and swears by it.

OK I eat an hour before a work out so I have more energy. If the creatine causes you to hold more water, then I would be a balloon! What do you recommend????

Cragley- it depends on how serious and how long you have been lifting.

If your new to the sport, don't mess with supplements.
