Little New York

Was in London today, and amazed at the numbers of Americans! It seems that this year we have a real bumper crop of USA visitors.

Some (I admit to resorting to stereotyping) I didn't expect to see and hear. Families from the mid and southern US with accents to match. Huge numbers of younger Americans too, travelling in groups. And more than a few older people doing the independent traveller thing on their own. One guy I chatted to in an elevator at LHR T1 had come with a rucksack, credit card and what he stood up in. He was in his fifties and planned to do it as it came to him rather than book a vacation. First thing I did was turn him away from the Heathrow Express and its scandalous charges.

I know we get lots of Americans here, and we in turn send our tourists to Orlando by the million, but this summer the numbers coming here seem well up.
Lead me not into temptation, I can find my own way there...

Wow, I'm amazed the Americans knew London existed. Are you sure they didn't mean to go to London, Nebraska?

Having so many American tourists in London is somewhat surprising given the dollar's weakness against the pound. London is not a cheap city to begin with, and it's especially expensive if you come from the United States.

London itself is overrun with Americans, and not only tourists, but residents as well. My cousin worked over there for about a year and he said that there are actually certain bars and clubs which you could count on being full of US nationals on any given night. He claimed the reason for this is that most British women don't give American guys the time of day. I don't know why though, I mean why would British women subject themselves to hanging out with men with the sense of humor of a wet sock  Big grin

Yep, The UK sends a lot of tourists to Orlando and we love it! I personally like dealing w/ the British people. They are some of the most well mannered and friendly people I have met.

Just because I smacked you in the other thread about a terribly weak signed-by post doesn't mean you have to try in desperation to get back at me.

KO anyone???

It was weak. Thus, I think the only two initials you are looking for by fawning all over AA61hvy are 'B.J.'

You're not doing yourself any favors by trying to get back at me, you're just digging yourself a deeper hole in the realm of pathetic. I have an idea, why don't you take a break from a.net for a few days, consult with the Brits and maybe come up with something funny to say. Yeah, I know, the Euros aren't very funny, but even the bunny with a pancake on its head and the cat in the grocery bag are fresher than the garbage you come with.

Maybe my crack back was weak, but King Size Me, learn how to take a KO and shut up. You wine more about a damn KO than Mark does about how good his band is.

That was even more weak. If you're in a cure cover band, and you wear makeup onstage, you quickly learn the value of self-deprecating humor. AA, you're usually a smart, funny dude, but these cracks are in inverse proportion to the strength of your balco biceps.
