I think it is a good movie. Realistic? Pretty comparable to most other WW2 movies but, of course, they throw a love story in there for the women.

I remember seeing that movie, it was pretty good. If you're into WWII, then you'll want to see this.

The inflated importance of the sniper duel and private lives speculation of the main protagonists apart, a good account of a significant battle.

Maybe about time a Western (it was a European, not Hollywood film) production paid attention to the awesome significance of the Eastern Front and it's breaking of Hitler's Germany.

The defeat in the Western Desert of Rommel by the Desert Rats was the start, Stalingrad made it look likely that Hitler could lose the war, the massive tank battle at Kursk in 1943 confirmed he would lose.

Come on all you CGI film people, do the Battle of Kursk, (no chance of that in Hollywood).

Stalingrad was probably the most important battle of WW2 on the European theatre of war.

Get a copy of the 1973 book "Enemy at the Gates" by William Craig.

You can tell the script writers just took a number of the people in that book at slapped them together to make a movie.

For example.

The boat ride across the Volga in the begining.....Well what's her name, the female lead actually took that trip, had the boat sink on her and then made it ashore through a sewer and got a meal at a german food kitchen because of her knowledge of german.

There was a boy working as a double agent named Sacha and when the germans did pull out of the city he was rounded up with a bunch of others and hung.

That is just for starters, Like I said they just took a bunch of incidents from the book as then attached them to the movie.

OBAMA-WORST PRESIDENT EVER....Even SKOORB would be better.

I think its a good movie, yes, but some of the stuff has been glorified to enable it to be turned into a movie
When you hear the noise of the Tartan Army Boys, we'll be coming down the road!

I can't wait until they do a History vs. Hollywood on that movie on The History Channel to compare the movie and actual dual between the two snipers.

My best friend's dad was a sniper in Vietnam and learned some stuff from Carlos Hathcock.

Just my .02 cents....
