...regarding God

Sun Aug 15, 2004 6:47 pm

I have a few thing to say, hope you can feel just as stringly without going haywire.

God could not have written the world's religious texts, they had to be written and interpreted by people, there is no logical reason for there to be so many different versions of religious texts unless God did not author them.

If God has choice, then God must have the ablity to not choose as well. The idea that God can love and not hate makes no sense. God should be able to techinically do as God pleases, but it is people who make this decision for God. Many religions claims God loves by default, that is a human (if not nature's) trait. The idea that God must only be a male is also out of whack. To me, God is a 'he, she, it, they, us and/or we' creature. Notice that I put 'he' first, I make no apologies. Again, human traits; the only way that God can be built around us is if WE MADE GOD.

I found out that my family and myself are actually devout Hindus. Yippie... Yeah sure On the other hand, I am atleast smart enough to know that in reality, we created God. I know what happens if I do not pray: nothing happens any different. But I'll still do it if I need guidance once in a while.

Personally I wonder how pesimistic my fellow supposed religious folks are, they act as if without God, we are indeed lost. Dude, God made everything, think about it. Everything that all your senses can apply to, even things you think aren't supposed to be. Everything exists for a reason, it's not a test, it's just THERE for you to deal with it. God made science, the purpose of which is to explain HOW not why, gice up the damned arguments!

BTW, my Hindu teachings do not mention any of the above, I don't think I represent Hinduism or any religion for that matter. These are just...thoughts.

Regardless, I always find it facinating (and most unfortunate) that no one qualifies thier God when they speak of God. No one has ever said anything along the lines of, "Life according to my God." It is just assumed that your God is everyone's God and therefore to qualify God would be redundant, as if there was only one God...  Insane

Don't make assumptopns, especially in this thread, I will lay smack on you for it.  Wink/being sarcastic

Actually, we are living under the same god (if you are talking about Christians, Jews and Muslims) because it is not the god that makes the difference, but the prophecies. Like for Christians it is Jesus, for Jews it is Abraham (sorry if i am wrong on this) and for muslims it is Mohammed.

That's almost right Yanksn4 Big grin. Indeed the Christians have Jesus, the Jews have Moses (not Abraham), and yes Muslims have the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), but Muslims also believe that Jesus (known as Isa) and Moses (known as Moosa) where prophets from God too.

Hello from another Hindu!  Big thumbs up.

I think you have some good points. What I extract from my teachings...is just that. I take the stories with a grain of salt. I'm not religious so for me whether or not all those stories about the gods/godesses are true, I don't know...but I try to understand the lesson in those stories. I suppose Hinduism is a slightly different system because it's more philosophical than the Abrahamanic religions.

As the french would say, "Le huh?"

Pardon my ignorance but what does that have to do with anything? Please include your thought processes next time.  Smile

Sorry, it was just a fully irresponsible joke about "believing in everything" according to LY7E7 - every salesman´s wet dream!  Big thumbs up

No offense intended. I´m aware that they´re probably just as smart as everybody else.  Wink/being sarcastic
