Real Men Wear Pink

Thu Aug 19, 2004 9:43 pm

Where's that pic of me in the yellow shirt?
It seems like the world is catching on to my BOLD yellow shirt look.

Yeah, right: "Just think pink! It's the new macho color."  Nuts

I don´t have any problem with bright colours (that yellow shirt sure was an eye-catcher! Big grin), but pink? Come on, it´s got to stop somewhere!  Wink/being sarcastic

Anyone with fashion sense will know: men are not affraid to wear pink anymore- out of all the "bright" colors, pink is actually the most soothing to the eye and for almost all men, it makes them look sharp. And with a suit on with a pink undershirt, matching tie? Very hot- ladies look for this!

but pink is my color. i look great in pink. any sort of pink. pink shirt, or pink tie--people love it and comment on it because most everyone else is too afraid to wear it.

What the hell is wrong with pink? I have a very light pink polo shirt and it looks pretty good on me. Its not what you wear that makes you look gay, its how you behave..

No thanks!

To me, and many others, pink is associated with being gay... which I'm not.

KI911, don't tell me you're that insecure! If all gay people start wearing blue jeans from tomorrow onwards, does that mean you will stop wearing them?

And yet I am wearing a black polo shirt today... what does that say about me???

I've never been a big fan of bright colors. Admittedly I have a yellow shirt, but it is more of a mustard yellow than a lemon yellow. Plus bright colors tend to be very seasonal as well. I suppose if you are a fashion whore wearing Mirrodie's bright yellow shirt in winter time would be a no-no... I think.

I also have a pink polo shirt, at first I didn't want to buy it but then my girlfriend and the shop assistant persuaded me. Now I must say that they were right, it is looking good and I like to wear it.

I have two pink shirts, one J.Crew button down, and a polo one...I like them...I used to call my dad gay when I was younger when he wore pink shirts, now he calls me gay for wearing them...

Either way I like them, and so do the chicks.

Pink dress shirts have been around for years. I never thought there was anything at all odd about them.

As any attorney will attest...you NEVER wear a pink dress shirt--particularly to court (acceptable colours would be white...or white....or white). This was even in our corporate dress code (right up there with brown suits).

There is an old adage: Never trust a man in a pink shirt. Apparently, there is still some residual feeling that there may be some truth to it...

Oh well.

I have a few pink shirts in the closet too. When I use them some loser always drops an ignorant comment - most often of homosexual nature.

I just ignore it.

This is all a part of a gay conspiracy!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

j/k

Pink is just simply an ugly color!
The only clothing that looks good in pink is a womens G-string/thong panty.
Anything else is just hideous.
I don't like a pink Cadillac, panther, pepto bismal or any thing else pink!

Yes, my previous firm had a dress code forbidding, among other things:
-pink shirts (of any colour, pattern, or fabric)
-brown suits (ditto for really anything but navy blue and/or grey).
-facial hair
-jewelry except watch and wedding ring and class ring (I forgot to take out my earring one day and thought four secretaries were going to tackle me!)
-club, school, or fraternal ties
-visible tatoos
-there was whole section on shoes, matching socks, belts, briefcases, etc...
It was crazy.

AND..if you wanted the car allowance, you had to have a 'premium four-door' with acceptable rear space for clients with seperate trunk. Premium was not defined...nor was acceptable.

I agree with Greg above about dress codes for attorneys. Nothing is wrong with a pink shirt, but never as part of formal business attire. However, I think a glen-plaid suit in a muted brown might work. I only appear in either administrative tribunals or federal appeals court. White or blue shirts ONLY at those venues.

As for my "clients," they are almost always government employees. They don't get to ride in my 5 series. They can take the subway to court!

I had to agree with the attorney.

But I'll tell you, lotsof my patients have given me a lot of positive feedback over the pink, red and oranges Ive got

damn greg!

i'm now at my second corporate firm. this one is way more relaxed than the first. regardless, i'm sitting here wearing jeans, with an untucked t-shirt and the secretary nearest me is wearing one of those velour juicy couture track suits (she really should NOT be wearing that, not at all flattering).

of course we have to look sharp when a client comes in, but other than that, its just a bunch or rather poorly dressed cheap bastards walking around.

litigators though have a different standard of course.
