Thu Aug 19, 2004 10:03 pm

Hey, How many of you enjoy the Simpsons? I watch them every day, and I just felt like asking my fellow netters, what their favorite Simpsons episode is.

Mine is ´trilogy of error`. It was based on the German independant film Lola rennt. It beginns three times, as Homer´s, Bart´s and Lisa´s day.Exellent.
What dou think?

The one where Homer skips church and makes patented home-made moon waffles (ingredients: waffle batter, caramels and artificial smoke, wrapped around a stick of butter - "mmmmm fatteninggggg !" (best Simpsons line ever !). Homer then meets God, who turns out to be very cool.

Yes, that one is funny. Another good one is, when Homer insults the garbage men. Because of that, the garbage men refuse to go to the Simpsons house. The rubbish piles up infront of the house and attracts all kinds of animals. And when the sun shined on to the nappy pile it stank up the neighbourhood.

I don't have a favorite episode, but some of my favorite lines and puns are:

When Ned and Homer go to Vegas Ned say: And then there's Maude, and then there's Maude! (for you youngsters, if you didn't get it, see: "Maude" TV-Series 1972-1978)

When the family goes to the famous french restaruant "Chez Guevera"

Bart: "Dad, why did you bring me to a gay steel mill?"

I love Marges' Channel dress episode.

Marges' father turns out to have been a F/A.

too many to go on...

There's too many brilliant ones, but add the one where Homer goes on disability because he's gotten too fat. He puts on a muumuu and works out of home. The best line is "Your fingers are too fat to use this phone. Please ask for a fat keypad..."

When Bart's dog fell in love with another dog and she moves in, Bart said, "Santa's Little Helper and I used to be a team, but he doesn't want to do anything anymore now that his bitch moved in."

Also some great political satire - they take shots at both parties...

There are so many great episodes, I can't chose just one. But to name a few:

As mentioned above, when Homer gains weight.
The blizzard that traps all the kids in the school.
Any scenes with Ralph Wiggum.  Big thumbs up

When Homer becomes a bodyguard for the Mayor. He is patrolling his kitchen using the new moves he learned. He uses his new sleeper move on Bart and Lisa. When Marge complains, Homer says "Don't worry, it only lasts for 30 minutes" and when Marge keeps complaining he does it to her. Then he looks at his watch and says "30 minutes to dinner" and then does it to himself.

Also in that episode, when Homer is scared of the mafia trying to kill him "Bart, go start Daddy's car."

The bodyguard episode was great, especially with Mark Hamill guest starring and singing (to "Luck Be a Lady Tonight") "Luke Be a Jedi Tonight".

Many critics agreed that the fourth season was the best season. Entertainment Weekly named "Last Exit to Springfield" as the best episode, where Homer's plant went on strike and Lisa needed braces.

And I forgot my other favorite episode. The trillion dollar bill.

When they are showing the video of the trillion dollar bill, all the European leaders are waiting for Burns to land with the money and when he doesn't, they say "I say we all act snotty to Americans, forever. Agreed"

When Burns, Smithers, and Homer are escaping by plane Burns says "That island has freedom written all over it". "Sir, that's Cuba.........."

When they get into the taxi, Mr. Burns goes "You say Batista's gone?"

Homer: "I think we can trust the President of Cuba, Mr. Burns"

When they are speeding away from Burns's house in an old car and they show the Police Chief getting a call to be on the lookout for a "maroon 1937 Foxtrot" and when it passes, the Chief goes "That was more of a burgundy"
*I might be wrong with the year and name of the car, but you get the point!

My favorite is easily "The Mansion Family." Or, the one where the Simpsons house sit for Mr. Burns. There are many good ones, but that episode really stands out to me.

How about Bart trying to steal Homer's penny jar, approaching it like Indiana Jones approaches the idol at the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark, right down to the rubbing of the chin.

Then running down the stairs with Homer chasing and tripping and rolling down like that huge ball from the movie...

And anyone who is a fan of Mary Poppins needs to check out the episode with "Shari Bobbins", I think they spoofed at least four songs from the movie. And of course the ending with Bobbins floating away holding her umbrella getting sucked in the engine of a passing 747... Big grin

Oh and another one of my favorite is when Bart works for the maffia as a barman. Bart finds out, that Fat tony is smuggeling cigarrets, so he confronts him with it and tells him that hes stealing cigarrets. Fat tony replys:
`Bart, is it a crime if you steal bread if your hungry?`
`no`
`And is it a crime if you steal bread for your family if youre all starving?´
`no`
´and is it a crime if you steal a hole truckload for a big family?´
´no´
´and is it a crime if youre family prefers cigarrets over bread ?´
´no´

It's impossible for me to choose an absolute favorite episode.. One that does stand out in my mind and is definitely one of my favorites is the "Behind The Laughter" episode... copying VH1's Behind The Music show. The one-liners in that show are great.. Some of my favorite quotes from Homer in that episode are:

"People say that kids watch too much TV. I grew up in front of the TV and I turned out TV."

"I just want to set the record straight. I though the cop was a prostitute."

There was some others, but I can't think of them right now.. Damn memory
