Statements About A.net Members - The Return

Sat Sep 04, 2004 7:06 am

After rediscovering that old topic (http://www.airliners.net/discussions/general_aviation/read.main/1399074/4/) I wanted to see if we could have some fun with it again.

Statements about A.net members:

1. Most A.net members are far more interested in the livery of the aircraft than in the technical details.

2. Correction, most A.net members are far more interested in the flight attendants than in the livery.

3. That should have been female flight attendants.

4. Some A.net members keep text files of canned answers to common questions so that they can appear knowledgeable. The official reason is of course that "they can't be bothered to type it in again".

5. Some A.net members hate turboprops. Others love to bash those who hate turboprops, so I guess that one works out.

6. Some A.net members will do anything to post a topic, and offer up the most obscure topics. "Where are peoplemovers still used?" comes to mind.

7. Whenever a crash involving an airliner flying within, to, or from the USA is mentioned, some A.net members will invariably steer it towards conspiracy theories. This is the first step towards degeneration of the thread into a shouting match.

8. The second step in the degeneration is when someone mentions a government coverup.

9. The third step is when blame for the coverup starts being assigned. At some point, the Europeans and the Kerryites will line up against the Bushites. Eventually, someone will be asked to leave the USA.

10. Some A.net members obviously have no other lives. But at least they can dedicate their entire time to improving their RR.

11. Some A.net members have several lives on A.net, most notably Sammyhostie/Mrwayne/Wally236er/Madness/Tango/Positepat/Scorpian/A350

Starlionblue-I don't think you are concerned about your respect rating, but in case you were, expect it to take an extra couple-point bump...that post was great...I hope that list gets framed and stickied somewhere in every thread on the board...

Just trying to be ironic and have a little fun. I am guilty of a couple of those thing myself of course...  Nuts

EDIT: 12. The A.net forum membership was evenly split between those who cried and those who cheered when Aviation Polls & Preferences was split out of General Aviation.

13. Any mention of the MD-11 will, within 10 posts, lead to someone having to explain about performance guarantees.

14. As soon as Michael O'Leary talks, farts or hickups, there will be a thread about it.

15. In about half the cases, this thread will be started by Son of O'Leary, AKA Pe@rson.

7a. If the airplane is an Airbus or Boeing, expect the usual flame war.

7b. If the airline is in anything but complete financial health (oxymoron), expect the financial health of the airline to enter into the fray as though pension payments affect aircraft safety.

16. "Did you know the A380 was overweight?" threads will, within 20 posts, lead to a shouting match about European illegal subsidies.

17. And some members will followup by saying that the 7E7 is the best thing since sliced bread.

18. Followed by the other shouting match, about whether the 7E7 is "revolutionary" or "evolutionary".

Haha, Mr Funny! I won't even defend myself cos it's obvious that I only start threads about FR which contain important info, like new routes, passenger growth, MOL's sleeping habits, his girlfriend's underwear, and so on.

1. Most A.net members are far more interested in the livery of the aircraft than in the technical details.

A. I would say I do like the livery and I'm not real up on technical details although *PERFORMANCE* specs are important to me. How an aircraft gets to that performance is best left up to the REAL aircraft "nerds."

2. Correction, most A.net members are far more interested in the flight attendants than in the livery.

A. Depends on which is better looking

3. That should have been female flight attendants.

A. Judging by a lot of the profiles I've read here, I wouldn't be too sure of that.  Big grin

5. Some A.net members hate turboprops. Others love to bash those who hate turboprops, so I guess that one works out.

A. I didn't care much for props until the Q-400 came along. I get it that it's a matter of personal taste.

6. Some A.net members will do anything to post a topic, and offer up the most obscure topics. "Where are peoplemovers still used?" comes to mind.

A. You mean like observations about other A.net members???  Big grin

7. Whenever a crash involving an airliner flying within, to, or from the USA is mentioned, some A.net members will invariably steer it towards conspiracy theories. This is the first step towards degeneration of the thread into a shouting match.

A. Then there are the others who like to point out anniversaries of crashes. Really gets you fired up to go out and fly again!

8. The second step in the degeneration is when someone mentions a government coverup.

A. Government doing a coverup?? Come on, it'll never happen!!

9. The third step is when blame for the coverup starts being assigned. At some point, the Europeans and the Kerryites will line up against the Bushites. Eventually, someone will be asked to leave the USA.

A. Either that, or someone vows to leave the USA voluntarily if their candidate is defeated.

10. Some A.net members obviously have no other lives. But at least they can dedicate their entire time to improving their RR.

A. That reminds me, I need to check and see what I'm up to now and who else I can suck up to!!  Big grin j/k

11. Some A.net members have several lives on A.net, most notably Sammyhostie/Mrwayne/Wally236er/Madness/Tango/Positepat/Scorpian/A350

A. And no life anywhere else, evidently.

I can get away with this because my g/f does NOT work in the air travel industry.  Big grin

2B. Some A.net members might even be looking for single flight crew for dating/MHC/whatever.

19. Contrary to the belief of some A.nut members, a high RR will not get you laid.

EDIT:Haha, Mr Funny! I won't even defend myself cos it's obvious that I only start threads about FR which contain important info, like new routes, passenger growth, MOL's sleeping habits, his girlfriend's underwear, and so on.

I have you to thank for the idea Pe@rson since you started the original version of this thread way back when Big grin

Which brings us to:

20. Some A.nut members like to suck up to other members in the belief that this will increase their RR.

21. And they are sometimes right.

22. Airbi are flown by (evil and buggy) computers while Boeings are flown by real men with hair on their chest, or so some of the posters would have you think.

23. Other posters just like the pilots to have a tray table like the pax.

EDIT on account of the move to the loony bin

24. When threads are moved to Non-Av, a lot of members lose interest  Big grin

LOL! I completely forgot I created the original thread way back when. It's funny but also accurate. You've earned a prize for creating a decent thread, S. How does $1,000 sound? Oh, actually - a position in my respected users list is priceless.  Wink/being sarcastic

16. Some A.Net members will actually take this thread seriously and offer up serious and detailed answers to each and every bullet point stated above. Most however, will elongate the thread by simply adding more bullet points.

Some A.net members apparently do not know where to find the caps lock button on their keyboards, making their posts pretty difficult to read.

18. Whenever a really good but somewhat unlikely pic comes up, some A.net members will insist on starting thread after thread about why it was a fake.

19. Whenever someone "reveals" a detail about security, someone else will admonish them not to talk about that sort of thing because in this dangerous world terrorists might take advantage of the information.

21. Any photo of an A340 shown on the forum will lead to at least two different users asking about the 'poor climb performance' of said aircracft and, if the thread extends more than a dozen posts, an A vs B flame war  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
