"Rova said he doesn't understand why anyone would think they had to shoot a dog just because they could not find a home for it."
That sums up how I feel about it, too. He HAD an animal shelter in close proximity, why didn't he take them there? If I was a neighbor, particularly one with kids, I'd be giving this guy a hard time not only for shooting the pups but for firing a weapon needlesly so close to my property. Honest to God, L-188, I may be a bit extreme on certain issues but your view here is to me, also a bit extreme. These weren't 'game' animals, people aren't supposed to be shooting domestic critters. This to me, is about as bad as someone shooting a child because LGW

. With people, there's adoption agencies; with animals, there are shelters. If there was no shelter near him, I'd be less upset but there was. It doesn't matter that the might all get put down there, as well, if homes weren't found, the point is that extra effort to find them homes would've been made at a shelter. Shooting all of them at home wasn't his last resort. The other article also says it all...
"Rova said there is no reason for anybody in Escampia County to think about doing away with an unwanted animal, because the shelter will take any animal with no questions and free of charge if a person brings it in.
And the shelter director said the story is a reminder of the importance of spaying and neutering dogs and cats.
"They would never have been in this situation if they had the mother spayed," he said"
Amen to that, another example of stupidity getting someone into hot water. In addition, thanks to the publicity, Bradford won't exactly be 'Mr. Popularity' in his neighborhood. Expect kids to egg his house, flatten his tires and throw trash on his lawn. Someone might even spray paint "MURDERER" on his house or car and for the next few years he'll be carrying the stigma of "puppy killer" with all who know him. All this because it was too much trouble to simply take the pups to a local shelter. What a moron and his wife must also be really thrilled to be in this spotlight. To get the mother dog back from the shelter, they must agree to have it spayed, eve then, I'm not sure it should go back to THAT home!
