Jeanne Might Be On Its Way To Florida.

Wed Sep 15, 2004 3:53 am

Okay same old same old. Tropical Storm Jeanne might be on its way to East Coast of Florida. It is to early to tell right now and projected path takes it maybe north into the Atlantic or Carolinas. It really is to early but once again the east coast of Florida needs to keep an eye out for another storm. Only good news it is not expected to be a major storm.

Jeanne is right over my island since yesterday, and man, we've been getting a LOT of rain, been raining for 27 hours straight so far. It's very very rare a storm develops over the Caribbean arch, so we'll have to keep a close watch on this one.

It's probably a LITTLE too soon to speculate on a Florida hit by Jeanne - it's still too far out to predict its path:

Well, at least it doesn't look like it will be a big storm. A Cat I or II at most.

I don´t believe in a supernatural god... that´s almost the only thing that´s keeping me from declaring this divine punishment for the 2000 election disaster...  Nuts

But seriously, this is really getting a bit much. Especially for the poorer islands in those hurricanes´ paths.  Sad

Let´s hope the "new" ones will slow down soon!

Good luck again!

Hope not! A work mate of mine is over there on Saturday morning for two weeks!  Laugh out loud

Cheers,

PS: I'll warn him to have his handy cam at the ready for when they get blown away!  Big thumbs up

Yes it's god's attempt to wipe West Palm beach off the map.

There's a very power high preasure system over Bermuda that is pushing the storms at Florida, normally when the high is not nearly as powerful it allows the storms to strike lesser states ( ;p ) along the Eastern sea board.

Now I've heard it all, Klaus is blaming the weather on the Republicans.  Wink/being sarcastic

We have to go to Valdosta on Friday, I wonder if the thing will have blown over by then. The wife and some friends were in Panama City for the weekend and they said the people there were not yet really concerned. I understand that has changed and hatches are being battened.

I also understand that Castro said in advance that he would not allow any US aid after the hurricane. I hope his people either do not need it (not likely) or he changes his mind. Ivan the Terrible seems to be aptly named, over 60 are dead and it grew again last night.

Good luck and God Bless anyone in the path of these storms.

As I said... only if there was a god. But since I think there is none, the floridians probably aren´t the primary cause.  Wink/being sarcastic

Well, us Mississippians are fearing for Ivan the Terrible. Florida was the scapegoat to this one. Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm, Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm.

Once there was this hurricane who
Got into an accident and couldn't turn back to Florida
But when he finally went back
His wind had gone from weak to peak strong
He said that it was from when
The front had smashed so hard

Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm
Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm

The storm is now heading toward us (Puerto Rico) and although mosto of the people are ready for this things, we are quite surprised for the quick development almost on top of us. We got pretty much rain in the afternoon, but even when the eye of the storm is expected to hit the island later tonight, you can still go to Taco Bell and have a 7 layer burrito (9PM AST).

About the High preassure over Bermuda... well, its there, but it doesn't seem to be affecting Jeanne just yet....

And After Jeanne, we may have:

Karl
Lisa
Matthew
Nicole
Otto
Paula
Richard
Shary
Tomas
Virginie
Walter

I'll keep you posted...

I can;t remember where I read it, but there was a quote in the media from a woman in the storm's path who said to the effect of "if you have cigarettes, toilet paper, or a lot of liquor, you can trade for anything you need" I wonder- how many rolls of toilet paper equal a sheet of plywood???

Oh, not again!  Insane

Given the fact there is a very strong high pressure zone over Bermuda (the atmospheric pressure must be way over 1,000 millibars there!) I have this feeling that tropical storm Jeanne may develop into a hurricane within the next four days and here we go again with another threat to southern Florida.

It's almost like Hong Kong in the summer of 1971 when several typhoons brushed near there and typhoon Rose directly hit Hong Kong, causing quite a lot of damage to the then-British colony.  Sad
