Roma Vs D.Kiev Incident

Thu Sep 16, 2004 6:13 am

The world of football slides deeper into oblivion tonight as those who follow the champions league (Of Europe) will already have seen the disturbing outcome of the said game.

Kiev were leading at half time with a great free kick, Mexes the Roma player decides to lash out with a boot as the whistle goes and in doing so sees the red!

The referee on the other hand walks towards the tunnel and gets hit by an object thrown from the crowd - a cut head and some stitches were needed before abandoning the game as the 4th official is not experienced enough to handle the rest of the game?

so whats your thoughts on how this game now gets resolved and who is the fat bloke with the beard in the crowd!

i say give the game to Kiev, the fat bloke with the beard if recognised at the next game will probably get lynched!!!!

ooh to ooh to be ooh to be a gooner!

What would the reaction be if this happened at an English stadium?

Turkish fans can murder Leeds fans; Italian fans can assault the referee. BUt will we hear threats from UEFA to ban their teams from Europe? Will we bugger!

Back to the matter in hand, Kiev should be awarded the match and Roma banned from the rest of the tournament.

This must be another one of those 'rare' soccer incidents that happen every week...

It is indeed rare, hitting the target (the referee) right on the head from a distance of 25 meters or so, throwing from inside a packed crowd, is pretty unusual.

UEFA will decide, but normally Kiev wins on paper by 0 - 2, Roma gets a very heavy fine, and will normally have to play the next 1 or 2 or more games on neutral field instead of home terrain, and that hurts the finances a lot.
