Bidet....Yes, No And Why?

Fri Sep 17, 2004 10:58 pm

The house we are looking to buy has a bidet in it.

Who here likes them? dislikes them? has one? uses one?

and what do you use it for?  Big grin (IE, we alternatively might consider using it as a dog bowl  Big thumbs up

If your kids use bad language, you can use it to wash out their mouths with French milled soap.

Back in my last yr of HS, done at a vo-tech center in architecture, we had a guy in class who had never heard of these things...he ended up with nickname "Tod rod Bidet"...

Seriously, I've seen em...never used one...guess it's more for the "higher" class folks...who want their butts clean...

I've seen them in some of the Indian and European hotels I've stayed at overseas. I've played with them  Big grin but never actually used one.

I suppose you could just use it as a urinal.

Why don't you try using it? Will save you immense amounts of TP.

As for me, I've never even seen one.

I doubt there are many better morning pick me ups than a nice blast of cold water in the ass.
Things were better when it was two guys in a dorm room.

A complete waste of porcelain if you ask me.
I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

I've seen them in many hotels in France and they seem sort of weird. I asked a friend who lives in Paris about bidets and he said that they were developed for women to use during their periods or something along those lines. I've fooled around with the ones at our hotels and I can't see how effective they would be. I guess it would save on toilet paper, but you also need a towel to dry off...

The only place in the US I've seen them is in the suites at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas.

An Italian friend of mine (female) will walk straight out of a hotel if there's no bidet in her bathroom.
I however fail to see the usefulness of those things.

Almost every house in Miami has them.

I am told that people there could stand to use them more often.

We've always had one in the house usually at least in the master bathroom. Them's bad things to have around children...when I was young I thought it was a sweet fountain.

The Mirage has it too  Big thumbs up.

I've seen a lot of Bidets on sale at hardware and design stores here. I personally think they are nice...provided they aren't sharp and high powered like my grandparents' in India is. BUT...I don't think I could use a public bidet like I saw in Dubai.

When i was 7, my friend Emily told me it was a water fountain and she drunk out of it. So i drunk it too.. Well it was the right height for us.
I think i only learned it was a bidet and what one of them was when i was 15 or something. We dont have them over in the UK much.
