Spanish Composicion

Tue Sep 21, 2004 10:04 am

Hey all, for my Spanish class, we have to write a 300 word paper on a certain problem, either within the U.S. or worldwide. I figured, since I have some knowledge of aviation, that I would write on the current state of the airline industry. I figured that because many here at a.net are more knowledgeable about the current state of the industry than I, I could pick yall's brains for a few tips/pointers for my paper if you dont mind.

Here are a few of the guidelines:

Define the problem:
The current situation of the airline industry, specifically among the "legacy" carriers in the United States, is very poor due to large profit losses, mostly as a direct result of the 11-Sep-01 atacks, afterwhich travel fell off sharply on the airlines.

Personal Experiences:
When flying on the carriers who have been forced to make cutbacks, I have noticed, lack of meal service on many routes, smaller aircraft flying the route, or elimination of the route in general, and the reduction in the employee forces among the airlines.

Sources of the problem:
-As a result of the 11-Sep-01 attacks, passenger numbers declined drastically, thus reducing the profitability of the airlines.
- Increasing fuel prices (related to 9-11?)

Effects on the industry as a whole:
-Reduced quality in overall service
-Loss of some employee benefits
-Reduction in employee #'s
-Cutbacks in fleet sizes, thus causing cutbacks in routes/cities served

Ways to fix the situation: (Heres where I need the most help)
- Seek financial help (e.g. UA, etc.)

Thank you all for your help, I greatly appriciate it!

Sheesh... I don't think I could manage to condense all of that into just 300 words, even with the limited knowledge I have.

Buen suerte, mi amigo...
Up, up and away!

Haha, gracis Redngold, that is what I thought as well. All I need is a basic overview, nothing too specific if anybody is able.

Erik, I don't quite get it. You need someone to help you write the Spanish report correctly, or you just need someone to fill in the guideline so you can write the report yourself? If it's the second case, I think this thread should be posted in Civil Aviation then.

SOUTHAMERICA,

I just need somebody to fill in the guidelines (mainly the solutions to the problem). I can write the report itself just fine, I was just hoping for some ideas from my A.net buddies.

Note to a.net crew: please move this post if it would be better suited in civial av or wherever you think it fits best.

Oh I see. So, yes, this thread fits better in the Civil Aviation forum. Maybe you can open another topic over there with a better title, so you can get the help needed.

In case you have doubts or need help when writing the report, specially with those accents that can be tricky, just contact me and ask if you want.
