In Honor Of ScottysAir

Wed Sep 22, 2004 6:22 am

**** My 400th post****

It only took me 4 freekin' years.

Even if my posts are just as meaningless as his, I guess Scotty would not be proud of my slow posting pace...

"Sure, hit a mentally and/or physically challenged guy while he's down."

Please, get off your high horse. He got banned for exactly the kind of post Captoveur satirised, thousands of meaningless futile "good for them, they're going strong, all the best yadda yadda yadda" posts in almost each and every single thread in the Civil Aviation forum. That got him banned, and that pissed people off, not him being deaf.

And before you bash me, I spent 10 months working at a school for mentally challenged kids, and I was not the janitor. So I think I know a bit more about them than the average Joe.

"I can only respect and appreciate your restraint...!"

Whose? Bit difficult to detect undertones!  Big grin Anyway, I'm just tired of all the bickering about Scotty. I'm 100% certain that the mods would never have him banned without all those "I need to reach 5000 6000" posts, and if the Scotty over at airwhiners really is "our" Scotty, I hope he'll get over that attitude if/when he gets back.

He recently posted a trip report on the Trip Reports forum. It's actually easier to read than his usual postings and is quite detailed.

I think we should have a "Scotty" forum. Where everyone gets to say what they want, and no one gets deleted or banned. This way, if you don't like what you see, you can just leave.

you're not the only person to think that

I wonder how many posts by Scotty were in respose to something that was actually intelligent.

Three, but one was a duplicate post so it doesn't really count.  Big grin

I never said he shouldn't be banned. In fact, I agree that he should be, temporarily that is. What I disagree with is the fact that everyone has to keep talking smack about Scotty.

Actually, I meant a forum where Scotty was welcome, as well. We know how to humiliate the man, and those who try to help him. I understand the rules and how those who break them should be dealt with. But I do not understand members who lower themselves to such depths of human degradation and then expect to be treated with respect. At least one of them a moderator.

What is most difficult to comprehend is that so much energy is spent on making a fuss over his posts when it would have taken zero energy to ignore them.

Tell me - would you be making the same pleas if the person who ignored warning after warning from the mods and repeatedly spammed the forum with "me too!" posts in a deliberate, well-documented attempt to be the number one poster on the site were NOT hearing impaired or suffering from any other disability?

I think not.

No one's making fun of Scotty for being disabled. We're making fun of him for being a schmuck.

You Pro-Scotty people are bad. As EA CO AS said, if it weren't a deaf man doing what scotty did/does, you wouldnt care one if they were thrown off. C'mon, his posts make no sense at all, they are incoherent. He could at least try to make some sort of effort to doing it. Its not discrimination based on his handicap, its just cleaning up the site. He spams it with "Me too" posts, and incoherent babble, and he shouldn't be tossed off? If it were me doing it, you would all be too quick to throw me off the board. He violated the rules, simple as that. If you violate the rules, there will be consequences, and being banned is one of them. He's got to live with that now. He made his bed, and now he has to sleep in it.

Ok, let's pretend for a moment that Scotty isn't deaf, or disabled in any way. Does that make it right to continually make fun of or insult him? No. Get a life. Go take pictures...go to the beach...whatever...don't spend your time belittling someone else who is or ISN'T disabled.

Let's get this straight.....

1. My post was in honor of Scotty. That's all.
2. This post is to celebrate my 400th post in 4 years, and only Klaus has congratulated me on that, thanks bud!

Aerobalance, the point is that Scotty posted 400 times in a week let alone 4 years. No kidding. After his 5000th post, I was curious to see that he just posted and posted. As most of the others already mentioned, they were empty posts with no new information, or stating some ridiculous congratulatory remark on an airline starting service to a new destination and wishing them luck. Deaf or not, his posts weren't a very interesting addition to the forum (I may not post a lot, but I read them).
That's why we're here.

LY4XELD,

I agree, some (very few) of his posts were insightful, yet it was disgusting to witness when he would admit to post-padding with the 'me too' replies, I thought that was a slap in the face to this sites moderators - completely uncalled for.

1. Congratulations on your 400th post.  Big thumbs up

2. You sort of buried your intent (self-glossing for your 400th) by not including it in the topic name. "In Honor of ScottysAir" and the commentary you offered about your rate of posting vs. his is what led us all down to the Scottybash.  Big grin

Perhaps I could have phrased my header better..... I suppose there are better ways to honor ScottysAir.

Self-Gloss? Who me? Never....not with my slow-posting rate..... hey, I can't reply anymore to this thread, I'm exceeding my post quota  Big grin

Look guys you can have a go at Scottysair for duplicate and padded posts but to bash him for his grammar is heartless. He communicates using ASL which has a different grammatical syntax and to make fun of that is out of order. I'd like to see if you feel the same if somebody made fun of a member of your family for the same thing.

I'm no saint buddy but I just don't see how it is funny to mock people less fortunate than oneself. Obviously Scottysair isn't disadvantaged compared to you, so maybe that's why you piss your pants laughing at his posts.

Yes it is obvious N830MH is Scotty, he replied and both of the DL threads I started.

"This is great move for DL and this is first time ever for new nonstop SLC-FLL & TPA. This is moment waiting for so long time."

"This is mostly hourly service from ATL-ORD, BOS, BWI, IAD & DCA, too. They are so good on their service. It must to bring it back with the service to northeastern flights. "
