So How 'Bout Them Santa Ana's?

Fri Sep 24, 2004 11:18 am

They came early this year! Usually we don't start getting those blustery, super low humidity, warm winds from the east, but gorgeous crystal clear blue skies until around November.

Too bad they have the unfortunate side effect of bringing fires.

'Cuz I love it when the Santa Ana's blow.

Hey MattD,

When did they start? I'm in LA right now and it's hot and the air is damn still, although 2 nights ago it was cold and windy. Well, looks like I'll have a lot to look forward* to when I go home this weekend.  Big thumbs up

*Disclaimer: I've always hated the Santa Ana's

They started earlier in the week. They pretty much died down by yesterday afternoon.

The Santa Ana's seldom reach all the way to LA. They are strongest in places like Rancho Cucamonga, Chino, Chino Hills, Fontana, San Berdo, Riverside, Ontario, Corona, and Norco/Mira Loma.

True. I hated going to school with chapped lips and crap flying in my eyes. I hope there won't be too many fires this year, but with barely any rain...doesn't look good.

Rain?

What the hell is that?

You know whenever we get like a billionth of an inch...basically just more mist than actual rain, every freeway grinds to a screeching halt, and just the 91 alone, between the 15 and the 55 will have 300 "weather related accidents" on it.

It must drive visitors (no pun intended) from Oregon and Seattle NUTS to see this. They get rain 49 weeks a year. They're used to it.

Ah, yes, when I lived in Fullerton, I loved the Santa Ana winds. Only time (1) the skies were truly clear, and (2) I was warm enough.

That was a nice place to live. But the main thing *I* miss: In-n-Out Burgers.

yeah, my buddy down in Rancho C (also originaly from OR) told me about them. But when we get a dusting of snow/sleet/ice up here everyone jumps in their SUVs and finds out the hard way that 4WD has no effect on your stopping abilities going downhill. I showed the footage from the news to my michigan buddy and he cracked up.

I miss the Santa Ana's.  Sad

Matt D, thanks for the good laugh....I found it funny how in a week here in Indiana I went through more rain than I did for the past year in California.

UGHH!! The Santa Ana's. They mess with my allergies, and dry out my skin. Bring back the ocean breezes please!
Oh how I long for the day when the skies were truly Friendly!
