Working Out At Work

Fri Oct 01, 2004 2:40 am

I have recently changed my exercise routine where now I use the new gym in my office building. Great Cardio equipment, free weights, etc. I find I feel better exercising during the day rather than in the evening.

The downside? The jarring experience of seeing co-workers naked in the locker room. One guy who is a friend parades around after showering. I told him: "Hey Jimmy, for the love of God, put on a towel!"
Maggs swings, it's a drive deep to left! The Tigers are going to the World Series!!!

Why is that a jarring experience?? I think it would be cool. I've imagined many of my coworkers naked anyway...

A work gym though is a great way to build networks with people who you otherwise don't work directly with or are more senior. Just make sure you are there to work out and not "chat and strut".

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

Same here...I was never a fan of seeing my coworkers naked...about 75% should be covered with as many layers as possible. The other 25% were eye candy...go figure...really nothing in between.

There was the (forgive me for this) somewhat surprise of seeing who was circumcised....or not.

The showers were private, but the lockerroom portion only had partition walls...and most the guys were somewhat lax about wearing towels when going to the shower (although it was the manual...). Every once in a while, I'd flaunt it just to be contrary....and wear the towel around my neck. Hopefully, I could consider myself part of that 25%---but who knows!!

Oh well.

Why would you want to workout at work? That's a place of rest.

I used to schlep down to Bally's at lunch for 45 minutes of light workout. The UPSIDE was that there were a nice bunch of hottie soccer mom's and the like there at the time. The DOWNSIDE was that the place was full of 80-somethings, too, who could out bench press me.... Needless to say, I got a bit more motivated to workout...

Half my job is working out. Lift people all day. Now when you get the 300-700 pounders, thats when the real workout happens.

I work out too. I carry things, scrub floors etc... Apparantly I have bulked up (around the shoulders) quite a bit due to that.

I work on the ramp in DEN. Every day is somewhat of a workout.

HAHAHA, this reminded me of a SERIOUS problem at my old firm. the gym across the street was where all the old scary partners and really ugly overweight associates would go to work out.

after i first joined the gym, i saw a few co-workers whom i never wished to ever see in such a state. it was definitely jarring!

i ended up having to use the other gym a few blocks down to avoid them all.

So tell me, boys - what's the word on the ol' snip 'n' clip in America? I've read statistics that something like 85% of American boys are circumcised but only 50% or so of Canadian boys. I got married before I moved to the US so I have no experience with those statistics myself. Any analysis?

Update: Found some statistics. The current rate for Canadian boys is 20% and for American boys it's 66% (with 82% in the Midwest).

I don't know the numbers, but I've heard that the percentage of baby boys who are subjected to the Unkindest Cut of All has been going way down in the last couple decades. More and more parents are deciding that Anteaters are better than German Helmets any day  Smokin cool

it seriously seems like only 15-20% of guys are uncut. a very small number.
