Bush Campaign

Sat Oct 02, 2004 3:19 am

As an outsider I have a question about GWB's election campaign.

Why is he flying around in Air Force 1 for campaign rallies which costs the American tax payer a lot of money? Shouldn't he be chartering a plane like Kerry is?

I know that he is still president but why do tax payers need to fund his re-election efforts?

The President always rides on the presidential aircraft, and when he's aboard, it's referred to as Air Force 1.

In general, it's a perk of the office. Clinton enjoyed it, Carter enjoyed it, etc. etc.

In 2008, neither candidate will have that benefit, assuming Bush wins this year. If Kerry wins, assuming he runs for reelection, he'll have the benefit of the 747 to fly around and campaign with.

huh. that is a good question. but yes, the tazpayer does foot the bill, however it is a part of the office. if you are president and you are running for a second term, well you are entitled to the trappings of the office.

moreover, kerry and his team also have secret service protection now, so that too is footed by the taxpayer.
