NFL Week 4, How Did Your Team Do?

Mon Oct 04, 2004 1:57 pm

The Falcons are looking pretty damn good. Our defence is keeping us in it and the offense is shaping up. It needs some more consistency, but it is tough to argue with success. It is great to win for a change, and I know the team is happy about it.

I wonder what teams are going to do now...it looks like if they try to overcontain Vick they are vulnerable to our other weapons that cannot be ignored...i.e. Dunn, Duckett, Price, Crumpler. The O-Line is playing up to and perhaps beyond its assumed potential, and the whole team is playing with heart.

Big Ben and the Steelers whipped up on the Bungles. Troy Polamalu got to intercept his old roommate and return it for a TD, putting us at 3-1.

Seattle had a bye, and the Broncos, well. Damnit. They string me out through the 2nd and 3rd quarters, but I'll give it to Tampa Bay's defense, they really brought it. They were coming hard and quick. However, that's no excuse, Plummer should have been picked off probably 3 more times, and Griffin, althought I'm rooting for him, he's not producing....at least not yet. He can just get pulled down so quick, and he's not a power back. I haven't give up all hope on him though. Overall, it was a good game, but I expected a lot more from my boys. I know some die hard Denver fans will be talking about the heat and the humidity, but still. It was a win, I don't know if they deserved it, but they pulled it off.....

The Browns had a surprise win against the Redskins
I didn't think they had any chance with the injuries they've had and the way they've been playing. I thought after today, they should start playing McCown and work for the future, because what good would Garcia be to a doomed team? But, now that we're 2-2, we may not be as bad off as I thought.

Jaguars lose to the Colts, but are still 3-1. The next few weeks will be big to see whether we'll post a serious challenge or will have a .500 season like expected.

The Giants beat the Packers 14-7 (Giants are now 3-1)

After watching last weeks Packers game I didn't think the Giants would win this week, but the defense played very good. And the offense played good enough to win (Tiki Barber had 182 rushing yards)

For the first time EVER, the Texans won 2 in a row (30-17 over the Raiders)! Now David Carr can cut that mop on his head.

Hey, I actually got to go to a Browns game and, gasp, see them WIN!!

It wasn't pretty-it never is with this team, but they played a very good second half. Here's the stat of the game: 4th quarter Time of Posession: Browns 11:40, 'Skins 3:20. There's your ball game.

The Saints probably wish they had a bye week. 34-10 loss to the Cardinals. The Saints suck, and the only ones around here that don't know it are the Saints themselves.

Blew Dredsoe self-destructs when it all counts once again. Good thing, too, I'm a Patriots fanatic. Next week, going for the all-time record in consecutive wins against, you guessed it, Miami.

Both NYC teams won, on the road this week. Miami has some serious problems, could go 0 or 1 for the season in the win column, and made the Jets win look easy. But the Giants beating the Packers...at GB's house...that was great. Looks like an interesting season in the NYC metro area this year.

ElectraBob...yeah...the Lions couldn't possibly lose this past weekend. On a sadder note, though, 'my' new team, the Titans didn't fair well. What are they now, 1 and 3 ?

With hockey looking more and more dead for the season, no real baseball in TN, a slowly degenerating interest in NASCAR, I guess I'll have to climb back on the college football bandwagon when I move down there. Regards...Jack

The Panthers lost to Michael Vick and the Falcons. I gotta admit, the Falcons are clicking this season and they look pretty good. We are now 1-2, and if we dont shape up we wont make the playoffs.

Dragon-Wing: I felt exactly that way. I said to myself that if the Giants beat Greenbay, they will probably take the NFC East. They have a well rounded team that will get stronger the more they play together. Dallas is next. See you here next week.

Ummmm, I think you are forgetting that the Eagles are UNDEFEATED, and one of their wins was against your Giants. I'm no Eagles fan by far, but I find it pretty hard to believe that the Giants will have a better season than Philadelphia.

The Panthers are looking like the 1998 Falcons; go to the Super Bowl then tank during the next season, proving the previous season a fluke.

But the last time the Falcons were 4-0 to start a season was back in 1986, and they then finished the season 7-8-1, which lead to the firing of Dan Henning and led to the second Marion Campbell tenure.

A tough, though admittedly expected Bears loss to the Eagles. Glad we have a bye week next weekend to try and heal some of our many injured players!
I will give my props to the Eagles though, they are lookin really good this year, definitely will be playoff contenders.

No way in heck the Giants will win the NFC East this year...that title will go to my beloved Philadelphia Eagles who have thrashed all four of their opponents (including the Giants), by at least 10 points...

Much to Tom, and everyone else here in Louisiana's disapointment. My Cardinals won their most lopsided victory since 1993. They ran for 200 yards, unheard of for a Cardinals team. They only gave up 10 points, which makes their average 14 points per game. And finally they have a win and are 1-3. Not a great record for a team that has scored more points than they have given up, but I'll take it.

"Jaguars lose to the Colts, but are still 3-1.........."

- Mir, you make it sound like the outcome of that game was not in your favor?!?!  Wink/being sarcastic The Colts really don't have a cake walk the rest of the season. http://www.colts.com/sub.cfm?page=schedule This is going to be an interesting season in the AFC South. I still have not figured out why The Colts are in the South Division! http://www.nfl.com/standings They should put Miami in the South, Baltimore in the East and Indy in the North. And you would think having two divisional teams close (in the same state like Jacksonville and Miami) would generate even more interest in the game. Yea, it isn't really that close, but you could call it "The Battle of I-95!"

My 'fins did the same they have done all season long - great defensive effort spoiled by absolutely no offensive effort. This team is looking like the team that then-Tampa Bay head coach John McKay, when asked at halftime what he thought of his offense's execution, he replied, "I'm all for it!"

Week 9, against Arizona, looks like this team's only slight chance for a win this season.

The Bills showed some signs of life, playig the Patriots tough in the first half.

Then they became the Friggin' Bills again.

LHMark: My condolences - we put up with Bledsoe here for too long. Lots of talent, strong arm, but he always seems to make a bonehead play when it really counts. Funny too, for a statue, he's pretty easy to knock over. At least you still have Miami twice.

E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES.

Even a sloppy game, the Eagles phoned in a 10 point win. I think the boys were still at Momma McNabb's house eating.

Still, it was good to see them put the depleted Bears away handily without effort and yet not embarass the Bears who clearly were not even a match. The Eagles could have runup the score, and I wish they had one more touchdown for insurance but a W is a W.

now the Eagles get to rest up and recouperate from thier own injuries, and come into the meat of thier schedule on a roll and healthy.

4 and 0.....18 streight wins and tied with Don Shula and the Dolphins for most consucitve wins.....!! How ironic is it that we play the Dolphins next week, and could go into the records books by beating them.

EMBQA: I think the record is 22 straight. Two from previous season, then all of the regular games the next season, then all of their playoff games and then the Superbowl, the rest into the following season.
