I can not wait untill I get to fly on this super duper aircraft, do you think they will make a version for smaller markets that do not need the full capacity of the A311-100??

I've heard that the high-density layout on the A311-100 holds almost 200 people, is that right?

They will probably figure out a way to downsize that even more.

That's funny. I know it will never happen in reality, that's useless to say, but this is not even a plausible scenario. Why? Because how do you expect the aircraft to stand only on a nose gear? There is no main gear on the picture!

When I saw the same pic a few weeks ago I could not help but crack up in laughter.....it did not help that I was drinking some coke at the time. How on earth is it going to fly if it has no engines or main wings?

pilots must be pretty heavy to balance the aircraft just on one gear. Or they carry a cash-box in the cockpit full with pennies in order to pay the fuel for the APU ....

Gotta love that 311 it is probably the best a/c out there. Want to see one here in MCO soon.

Is there an extended-range version of the A-311? And supposedly I heard that Delta would be interested if Boeing ever built a competitor...as we all know, Delta loves flying small jets over long distances...I could see Delta flying those Boeing 606's every two minutes from LGA to ATL, and also every 5 minutes from JFK to LAX...

First impression? I thought it was REAL!!! No, just kidding. But anyways, if it could get USAirways out of Chapter 11, then I'd suggest they sign a contract as of tomorrow. Lol. Anyways, good sense of humour with that 'duck'. Lovin' it!

I have some similar pictures including a BA 777 seaplane and an Airbus based replacement for the B-52 (read: A340 with 8 engines!) but I don't know if posting them would violate the copyright rules....

Considering this a/c has no wings, it would be a good idea to call it ENWOPS - Extended No Wing Operations - or something like that or rather. It would probably be allocated to city-hop routes, e.g. SFO-LAX or similar distance routes.

I thought this plane was supposed to fly the 747SP routes, the long thin routes, like JFK-NRT

Reduce the size of the tailfin an you can drop these things on parachutes from surplus B-52s over US Airways' destinations - saving money on landing fees and serving multiple destinations at the same time.  Big thumbs up  Big thumbs up

Any plans for a Business jet derivative?

I would definitely be in the market for it!

Short enough to fit in your driveway, and, having no wings, it can take off on your typical side street. Not to mention the lack of engines, which reduces noise pollution drasticaly.  Laugh out loud

What do you mean "lack of engines"?

The APU should have plenty of residual thrust to accelerate this baby...!  Big thumbs up

But considering the positions of the landing gear and of its only lifting surface I´d guess that load & balance would be peculiar to say the least!  Wink/being sarcastic

No doubt Boeing will hasten into production with a Chinese Copy - the 7F7, and announce 3 million orders from unnamed Asian airlines.

Who said tailstrike!! Don't you see that is a taildragger?? Now is in rotation for take-off, the jetwash from the APU exhaust is quite evident. (Note that the tailwheel is already retracted)

The sad part is that US Airways wouldn't be able to fill enough seats on that one either to make a profitable load factor! Oh, and the ALPA pilots would want double pay to fly it!
