Ok I'll post it here then:

Yes David I think you are right but I cannot confirm anything without the others. I'm not even one of the officials and only 99% sure I can be there myself. I can only give arguments at this point. I'm starting to think I'm a pain in the ass already not minding my own bussiness.

I think we should do a revote with only the 2 dates with the most votes to choose for and post only our preferences. That would be 19/20 February and 9/10 April.
But let us wait until the others are awakened in the morning.

Can i just vent here??
i think its really silly that we are depending on the weather for this meet.. it seems thats all everyone cares about.. I recall in AMS it rained and it was cold and windy and no one gave a toss or bothered to check the weather.
Me, being a girl, i couldnt care less about the weather as you probably all noticed in AMS, i didnt even bother brushing my hair because the company we all had their was fab and i enjoyed just being with everyone.
Ive spoken to EmiratesA345 and BOEING 747-700 and they are mainly up for February because of the low prices for coming over. Now considering we are all moaning about its gonna be 100+euros etc, these guys are paying hundreds of dollars to come over for 2 days and thats cool. If we postpone this meet any later, they wont come as prices im sure will be near enough double that.
It seems so far away but we all cant agree on anything already.. just seems a little odd to me..
There.. ive vented...

OK. I agree with Sander and Hannah on this one totally. I'm very sorry to those who disagree with me on this, but I think another vote is in order. We need to make the right decision. I would like to give the americans a chance to come to one of our meetings. It would be a shame if they couldn't come, because of the fares being so high. I would say to people worrying about the weather, does it matter? From what I have read, it isn't rain, but snow (if any). It is not all about spotting aswell, a lot of the time we are inside and doing more social things, i.e. going out somewhere.

This is the final vote on the issue of the date.

Copy, paste and put your name under which date you personally would prefer. Please do not put your name under both, it will only make it harder.

February 19th til 20th:
British767

April 9th til 10th:

After the date issue has been sorted out, it is then time to talk about flights, hotels, different spots around the airport and so on.
Thanks for your co-operation.
Ben

Couldnt agree with you more...
I say make the weekend of the 19th/20th Feb 2005 the official date. If people can make it, GREAT if they cant, then thats a little unfortunate, sometimes you cant please EVERYONE and it seems alot of people are up for Feb, regardless of WX

Hannah, do you really think it was that cold at AMS? And it didn't rain that hard and not that long. FRA in February is a whole other story. However I will support any decision whatever that may be. So I wouldn't realy mind a meet in February but we have to be realy realy sure there are enough people crossing the pond because the preference of most Europeans is for 9/10 April.
Trust me I think it would be awesome to have them here, that is not the problem.

There have to be a decision before the end of this week that is for sure. I'll stick with giving preferences for either 19/20 Feb or 9/10 April.

Sander

Haha i'm always right. I'll probably end up not being able to come on the weekend of the 19th tho, hehe. Am I the only person who sees a great advantage in arriving Friday afternoon and making the most of Friday evening? Seems a bit pointless to base it around Saturday and Sunday when usually everyone is hung over and on their way home on Sunday.

If the cold is bothering anyone, you can be sure that it won't kill you. Bring a nice pullover (and I'm talking wool, not that itty-bitty cotton sweatshirt), a good jacket, a pair of gloves, a scarf and something for your ears and you'll be fine. Cold shouldn't keep anyone from enjoying a meet, and I'm sure it'll be enjoyable.

Sander, no offence but i dont see what the big deal is..
I just dont understand people who dont know what a warm coat is, a pair of gloves and a hat is.. it doesnt hurt.. plus we are going for the company not the weather..
As Daz said no one really wants to wait 6 months for the next meet..
We only know of 3 maybe 4 so far crossing the pond for this meet and they would find it easier and cheaper to meet in Feb, hence me going for the date.
It would just be really nice is they could make it..
Thats all and im not trying to preach, just make things a little clearer..

Can people copy and paste the list and add their name at the bottom under their favoured date rather than just saying "I'll come on ...... date" as it will make it much easier to keep an accurate score.

The idea of DUB hasn't caught on to many people's likings. FRA has plenty more to see and do, and remember that it's also about the social side of it, so despite FRA being "crap", I still think it's a great social event. I am giving Americans and Canadians the chance to come over to one of our meets. I'm sorry to those who don't like that idea, but it's what I really think and I think everybody just wants to set a date and stick to it.

Absolutely. Now, where I am (North Dakota), average temperatures in February are in the -13C/8F range (and since this is a cold year, will probably be more like -25C/-13F), so FRA is going to feel like a tropical paradise  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Hannah, I don't take offence but I thought I said to ignore that post as I was slow and my words aren't relevent anymore.
And I'm not making a big deal of it, I just like you wanted to make things clearer, making everyone aware of making a good decision.
As I stated a few times before: I realy think it would rock when people fly long haul just to be here for a meet.

Sander

Edit: I'm not bothered by the cold myself, I was thinking for the whole potential group. In fact I hope there will be lots of snow since we haven't much of that out here last decades.

Just one more thing that came to my mind: In Germany, the month of April is known for everchanging weather. It can be nice and sunny and even a bit warm on one day and a miserable mixture of rain, snow (or rather slush), dark clouds and cold on the next.

I'm sorry about writing this in Bold Caps but it's important:

A DEADLINE HAS BEEN SET FOR THE TIME YOU HAVE TO VOTE ON THE DATE:

Sunday 10th October 2004 at 12 Midnight BST

THAT IS 7PM EASTERN STANDARD TIME

Sorry to sound so official but it has to be done. Then we can start doing some real organisation, instead of fart arsing about with the date!

If the meet is in February then i doubt i will attend. To be honest for a lot you the meet is just about meeting up and having a good time. For me and a few others we also want to shoot pictures. Rain doesnt generally go to well with cameras and seeing as my cash flows are drying up rapidly i cant afford to go in feb and then in april as well. I would love to go to the next meet as you are all great!  Laugh out loud But i cant afford to pay £200 for a weekend with no photography! Sorry peeps!

Chris

P.S. I guarentee that because of my reasoning for not attending it will be glorious weather in Feb! lol

P.P.S. My heart is telling me to come! So if my financial situation improves drastically i will attend!

I'll be coming through DTW, either to FRA direct or to LGW for an LCC if it's cheaper. So, if someone is going to be flying NW that route, let me know.

Also, is there an LCC to FRA from AMS? In that case, I might be able to cut down on price by flying MSP-AMS (less flight segments mean less money spent  Smile).

I'll keep looking through all the permutations.

There is no loco between FRA and AMS. You could take the ICE fast train or try to get a ride from one of the Dutch guys driving to FRA?

aviancegirldUK, Reply 2
i think its really silly that we are depending on the weather for this meet.. it seems thats all everyone cares about.. I recall in AMS it rained and it was cold and windy and no one gave a toss or bothered to check the weather.

Was that before or after one of the Dutchies borrowed you his coat for the day?

Well, that settles that. I'd have to leave about mid-day from AMS, so driving is pretty much out, and the train is probably more money than it's worth (AMS isn't that much cheaper).

So, it looks like its direct to FRA for me, through MSP and DTW. The Hotel Hamburger Hof is looking pretty good in terms of price-for-location ($78 a night), though if anyone knows of better deals, I'm open to any and all suggestions.

So FRA it is. Next thing, is for us to decide wich hotel will be the 'main' hotel. In AMS this have proven to work extremely well, because things are much easer to organise and it's also a lot more fun when you are all in the same hotel. Offcourse you are free to get into any hotel you like, but just consider it.

My hotel proposal? the NH hotel.

Hi Daniel,

Just a short comment...
I was taking a look yesterday at the InterCity FRA Hotel's website, but I found the fares to be pretty high. I mean, I saw weekend doble room fares from 105 up to 140 Euros (per room per night) or something like that...maybe I didn't look in the proper fares section. I'll try to get back there later anyway to be sure.

Thanks for your help!!

Hi IBERIA747,

thats right but you can get these fares on www.ehotel.com and
www.expedia.de.

IMHO the best way to get good fares is to talk to the hotel and ask what a group rate they can offer.

If they can't do that price (77Euro dbl) we should go for another hotel.

Daniel
