FBI Closes "alternative Media" Websites

Tue Oct 12, 2004 2:33 am

This is odd. OK, they're a somewhat reactionary group with an anti-globalisation agenda, but does anyone know on what grounds something like this might happen?

Maybe they're looking for evidence of a crime they are investigating? That's usually seems to be the reason computers are seized.

Internationally? They got computers seized in different countries.

I suppose so, but only if it were some kind of front for something really big. I always had this lot down as a bunch of radicals, some genuine journalists, some just agitators; certainly looking through the website there appears to just be a left-wing worldview, not any kind of political hatred.

Here's another link with the FBI saying it was at the request of the Italian and Swiss authorities. That might make the thread title a bit misleading (apologies, not deliberate), though I'm still confused as to how this would all work.
