What Would You Do In This Situation (crime)....

NOTE: This video has lots of bad language, keep your speakers down if needed.

Just another example of how many pieces of sh*t are out in the world.

If this happened to me, and I had my gun, I would've shot this guy dead on the spot, otherwise, I would've tried to run him over.

What would you do if this happened to you?

If that was me, I would have tried to run him over. If i could not get an angle to plow over his ass, I would have looked for some type of a weapon in my car and gotten out with it. If nothing could double as a decent weapon, and I could not run him over, or get away and he was pounding the shit out of my rig, I'd risk it, get out and bet on the fact that he is a freakin wack job that I could get the upper hand on him as he wouldn't be expecting someone to fight back.

Shooting him would have resulted in jail time. Running him over I think you could say was an accdent.

I'm not so sure.

You could easily defend yourself saying that you felt your life/your family's life were in danger.

I mean, look at the situation, a guy starts bashing your car and windows in, he using the crow bar as a weapon. That's putting your life in danger.

Also, was this real and not staged?

I was kind of wondering that myself.

But, it's very odd both ways.

If it's not staged:

A. Why would they get it on video? That's just evidence for prosecution.
B. Why would they do it with hundreds of witnesses around?

If it's staged:

A. Why the hell would they beat the piss out of the PT Cruiser?
B. Just.....WHY?

The whole concept of legitimate defense is to defend yourself in a manner that is reasonnable, considering the harm that is done, or about to be done, to you. If a guy slaps me in the face, I can slap him back, but I cannot kill him.

In that case, killing him is not legitimate defense, as he was just vendalizing a car and he didn't seem to attack directly the lady in the car. I think the lady acted in the best possible manner under the circumstances.

Killing him or running him over would seem like best thing to do, however, remember that he is not harming the person, therefore, it is illegal in most states to kill the jerk.

That's correct. Therefore, if one feels that another is putting his/her life in danger, fatal force should be justified.

If a guy slaps me in the face, I can slap him back, but I cannot kill him.

A slap to the face is not a danger to life. A guy coming at you with a weapon is.

he was just vendalizing a car and he didn't seem to attack directly the lady in the car

Yeah, but he could've easily hit the lady in the car. The lady didn't know if he was going to hit her or not. One hit with a crow bar like that can kill you easily, that's why I would've shot him.

And, the whole gun control argument starts all over again. A guy smashes your car, and you would kill him for it? I wouldn't hesitate to hit him with my car, not back over him and kill him, or anything, but the availability of guns can turn a property damage incident into manslaughter. He didn't attack the driver. Don't think I'm defending this idiot, but any lawyer will say what I have above.
If it was me, alone in the car as in this case, I'd have taken off too. Why risk your life fighting some big, obviously insane black guy over damage to your car which insurance will pay for anyway? Drive half a block away, call the cops and follow the nutcase if he runs. It's just a car, people. BTW, Ihope this video nails this guy to the wall, and his accomplice the the (probably) stolen video camera.

The actions that you can take in self-defense are not on a one-for-one basis. If a man slapped you in the face putting a few 9mm rounds into his chest would likely not be seen as self-defense.

But in the case with this crackhead, or whatever he is high on (I cannot phathom to think what sober adult would do that), the use of deadly force would, in my mind, be justified. In effect the attack on the property, the car, is in effect an attack on the person.

With an individual as violent and unpredicatable as he is, I would not want to confront him solo without a firearm and some decent firearm training. A situation like this makes you respect cops who often have to deal with crazy violent people as a part of their job.

I agree with Desertjets.

Let me make one thing clear.

I would never kill a person just for smashing up my car, ever.

But this situation is far different. We have this guy, obviously hopped up on something, and he has a crow bar and he uses it as a weapon.

Now, whenever you have somebody with a weapon, smashing in the windows of your vehicle while you're inside, that's a threat to your life, because you don't really know whether he wants to harm you or not, you just know he has a weapon, and he's after you or your property. That can easily be seen as a threat to your life.

Its clear by the video his intent is only to damage the car (albeit in a dangerous threatening way). To justify killing someone over that (with a gun) is insane.

I think in this instance if you had a gun in the car the best course of action would have been to have run him over and leave the gun in the glove box!
You would have had more of a defence by running into him than shooting him.

I dont think this was staged, it looked real to me and was just another crazy look at me and what i can do piece of crap, although i was interested to see that he had to pick the placed crowbar up rather than already have it on him from start - maybe it was staged? who knows!

theres some lovely people in this world ! I even had a gun pulled on me last week- great! (not)
