Registering To Vote

Sun Oct 17, 2004 8:30 am

I sent in my voter registration a few weeks ago (I live in FL), and the only confirmation that I received back in the mail had to do with registering for the selective service. Is registering to vote also registering for the selective service? I would like to know if I can be confident that I did indeed register to vote...

You are supposed to register with Selective Service within 30 days after your 18th birthday...I know there's a separate form for Selective Service so Im not too sure whether voter registration does it as well (my guess would be no but don't quote me on that)...

In Florida you would be OK as long as you agree to vote for George, otherwise no you are not registered to vote for a democrat....

In Order to take advantage of any federal "priveleges" (voting, tuition assitance, etc.,) you are required to register for selective service. Most of the times its automatic.

Check with your supervisor of elections.

And Selective Service is totally different. The SoE is only supposed to check with them to see if you are registered. To sign up with the SS simply get a form from the post office or from your local military recruitment center.
At worst, you screw up and die.

Delta - try calling the Florida Division of Elections. Assuming they're not too busy reprogramming the machines to guarantee a Bush victory (I kid, I kid!) they should be able to help you out.
South Carolina - too small to be its own country, too big to be a mental asylum.
