Info I've heard so far:

- not available on Xbox

- eating is a requirement to maintain health, not just to get it back like in GTA: Vice City

- character needs constant exercise to stay in shape

My preference is to use the flying cars cheat plus the tank cheat and just fly around in the tank laying waste to everyone and everything.

It's fun not to have to land if you don't want to.  Big thumbs up

I'm a fan of the tank cheat and the nutter weapons on Vice City. Nothing like taking out the police choppers with a Gatling gun. This game alone almost makes me wish I had a PS2 instead of an XBox; I have GTAVC on my PC.

Im sort of 50/50 on it. I mean, after like a few hours, that game gets SO repetitious. Don;t you guys find that it gets somewhat boring?

I dunno, I saw a commercial for it on TV and the graphics look hideous if you ask me. I think they could have done a lot better, so I'm really confused as to why they look so bad.

Tbar- alot of the time, the graphics look crummy on preveiws but are stunning when actually played. I'm 100% sure SA will be better than VC in terms of graphics.

Speaking of graphics, a friend of mine (who also has an Xbox) said that GTA:Vice City has much better graphics when using Monster cables instead of normal ones. Will GTA:San Andreas be the same, I wonder? Will it even matter, since it won't be released for the Xbox?

Ja. Its coming out on PS2 first. PC release isn't for about another 10 months.

£29.99 on PS2 at Argos, probably one of the cheapest places you can get it in the UK, I see a mad demand for that game this year!

Actually the cheapest prices are always at www.simplygames.com (for UK residents only). With that and Halo 2 out soon, it's going to be a great few weeks!

EGGD- are you kidding? Halo 2 is the most anticipated game of the year. San Andreas is just adding to the legacy of GTA.

VC on GTA3 was most likely THE most waited for/anticipated game of all time. Rockstar has hit a goldmine with those games. Half Life 2? Come on now son.

No way is Halo 2 the most anticipated game of the year. Half Life 2 has been waiting for release for 2 years now (since the original clips came out) and I've never seen so many discussions about it over the internet. However, Valve have kept very hush about it and therefore it has had very little PR coverage. By comparison, GTA:SA has received loads and seems to me to have been way overhyped, its nothing revolutionary and I'm hoping its not going to be like Vice City (rehash of an older game with same graphics and very little improvement, just an inferior environment).

Halo 1 was one of the most successful and popular games ever made. I personally don't like it, but everyone else does.

SA: Has receieved alot of covereage, but it such a complex game that the coverage is hardly going to ruin any surprise. SA has so many more side games within the general game. No game will be able to touch it. Racing, drug deals, killing people. Ah its amazing.

Halo 2 is IMHO the biggest game of the year. Just because the 1st game was so breathtaking - Microsoft sold a ton of Xboxes on the strength of that game alone (heck, that's why I bought mine - I went into GAME, saw Halo running and 20 minutes later was walking out with an Xbox and Halo - the game is THAT good!).

Anybody know if Lazlow is still doing the radio station scripts? One of my favorite things to do in GTA 3 and in VC was just to cruise around the town listening to the various radio stations. I'd love to hear more Lazlow, Toni, and Fernando!

I saw a 1 minute commerical of SA this weekend. It looks SWEET. The background music was a Guns N' Roses song. So I pray that GNR amongst other huge 90's bands will be on the soundtrack.

This game is awesome, just fantastic. I have been playing it since yesterday - the freedom is amazing. Only letdown is the aging PS2 hardware - it will be much better on the XBox

Hi all,

I ordered mine from GAME and I got it on Wednesday, naughty naughty! Sony/Rockstar will be pissed off. In my opinion, it is a very good game. It is different from previous GTA's, but it is for the better. The more features in the game, i.e. burgle people's houses, makes it the best GTA I've played!

Where I work, we normally only get 5 or 6 copies of any new releases. But when I opened our delivery on Wednesday, we got 175 of them!  Wow! Our shop is also opening an hour early, at 8am, to allow for the computer geeks who will be knocking on the door at 7.59am.

Best game ever.

British767

P.S: After seeing the new slim PS2, I can say that apart from the fact that the CD loader is on the side, rather than the draw coming out, it is pretty dam good.

I was going to go and get it today (not actually released till tomorrow though) but decided to wait till tomorrow and get it with a friend (who needs to trade in 5 games to get it - he won't lend the money although I keep offering).

This game will kick ass it is that simple, an extra year in the making.

There is a crop duster aircraft as well as a DC-3???, you can book tickets and fly on the 727 between the different cities and are given some great views too during the flight (from what I saw on some videos & trailers).

Well, the Los Santos International Airport in the game is based off LAX. Well, the ATC Tower and the Theme Building (Encounter Restaurant) are depicted. Not much traffic, though. The city is pretty big. Much better. The 'missions' are still a bit weak.

San Andreas is based around Los Angeles. Verona Beach is Venice Beach, Santa Maria Beach is Santa Monica Beach. There are familiar buildings, i.e. airport, music building in Hollywood.

I got it today. Spent the last 4 hours playing it and only feel like I`m scratching the surface. Apparently there is 50 hrs gameplay if you only go straight for the missions and ignore all the side bits.

Won`t say too much in case I spoil it for the people who do get it. If you have a PS2 and a taste for mindless violence GET IT.

Stu

P.S. I can`t wait for the flying bit. Apparently you can even fly lear jets, probably not to the standard of FS2004, but you can`t do drive-bys in FS2004!

I believe that Rockstar has an agreement with Sony that for aprox 1 year the game will be exclusive to the PS2. After that there will be PC and XBOX versions out. Not 100% sure on this. If I remember correctly it was close to a year after that the PC versions of Vice City and GTA III were released. IMHO the pc version is superior.

Do you think it's worth buying a Ps2 Just for this game? I have both GTA3 and GTAVC on my PC and both of those games are awesome, but I don't know if I can wait a year? to get it for my PC. How much are Ps2s these days?

IMHO (and I have just completed the game) it isn't worth getting a Ps2 for (although it is a great game). However, it is worth buying an Xbox to play Halo 2 which is out tomorrow!

Aren't PS2s down to $149.00 brand new these days? I'm sure you could scrape up the cash somewhere.

I've got an Xbox though and can't justify spending cash on a different, less-capable platform. I'll just wait for San Andreas to be released on Xbox.
