What Watch Do You Wear?

Mon Oct 25, 2004 11:42 am

Do you wear a watch, or not?

What kind do you wear and why?

Do you have different watches for dress vs. casual?

I can't stand wearing a watch, personally. I feel that my life will be ruled by it if I wear one every day, and I don't want to live like that. But I do see some rather nice ones every now and then that look quite good on the people who wear them!

If I need to find the time, I just look at my cell phone anyway!

I have three watches. All of them are Fossil. None of them have a date on them. I'm an incredible believer in Fossil watches. They've done me well for 8 years now and only had a problem with one. They last long, look good, and always have the time I need!

I have one that I wear to work and don't mind getting dirty. Was a promotion gift from a co-worker. Its got a silver metal band and yellow and orange face.

I have my dress watch. Silver band and a dark blue face. Has a small diamond type stone at the 12 positition and that's it.

I have another one. Grey face or burgandy face depending on my mood. I don't wear that one much.

I own one watch, wear it for casual and dress occassions.

It's a Citizen and it has been pretty heavily worn in the past 5 years... it could use a new band and a cleaning.

I have 2 Fossil watches that have lasted pretty well since I have owned one. The one pictured below being the better of the two. I was hoping on getting a Movado or similar watch when I graduate, I found one in their fifth avenue store that I would like.

This is the watch I wear...not for show at all, it actually has useful functions besides telling time since I like to do outdoorsy activities...compass, altimeter, barometer, etc.

Two watches.

One's an Android which was expensive and has been nothing but a frigging pain in the bum since I bought it.

The other has no brand name on it, and it's much smaller, but more reliable.

I need a new one  Smile

Kinda want this watch...

Same here MYT. Used to wear one, but use my phone now, or the computer clock at work to know when to go on my breaks. I know when my break ends for lunch as it is always at the end of Hollyoaks. Its a mad rush to see the last 5 seconds after the credits and then get to desks and sign on before 7

I don´t wear any watch, I used to until graduating from university but after that just look at my cell phone. My biological clock does the rest, and it´s quite relaxing actually. I am however very proud of a watch I bought when Fokker Aircraft went bankrupt and they held an auction, it has a Fokker 50 as a seconds indicator flying around in it.

I wear an age-old blue Swatch. It's on its second wristband and its second or third battery - I'm too cheap to buy a new watch, and it does the just quite well.

Breitling Aerospace
Rolex Air King Date
Oris BC3 Diver's Regulator

I also have a Lange and Soehne Moonphase in Rose Gold which gets occasional wrist time

To be honest, the Sinn was nice but not really special. I found a new German watchmaker called Jorg Schauer and some of his watches are awesome (check out his chronographs). For a bit more money, his are much more unique. I may well get one of those, but I'm just waiting to see the financial situation (my wife wants to go to Disneyworld!!!) before making a move

Its this watch with a royal blue background. I rarely wear it though, I had a screw put into my wrist in highschool (I broke it during a football game) and I have permanent nerve damage so I don't feel anything directly on the scar, but I feel tingling on my fingers when something touches the scar. So I wear it only on formal occassions. I wouldn't wear it on my right wrist because its annoying to write with it on.

I know Schauer watches...indeed some of them are real nice, and usually quite valuable, he doesn't do mass production but limited editions.

Curious to know, are these watches gay or straight?

The first one is straight, the second one is gay. Therefore, I rule you bi.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

So tell me, Gigneil, am I straight or gay or even bi...?

Hmm. That is a fine watch... but you Europeans confuse the American gaydar. I'll go with straight for you.

I have a stainless steel Roots watch. It was cheap -- maybe $150. I bought it 3 years ago up north at the cottage and I've never even had to change the battery. It suits dress wear and I actually still get compliments on it.

Some watch made by a company called Kent. I never heard of them; my grandfather in Korea gave it to me. It has dual time, and is an analog. Problem is, each side has its own battery, and the one that dies is my local time! Right now, only GMT is running Laugh out loud

A thin Movado for dress (quartz movement, but always runs fast...);
A big, honkin' stainless Seiko auto-winder for general casual (kinda cool and retro);
A black plastic, waterproof Casio for rough duty and when I am flying (good for diving too)- very nice watch, dirt-cheap, most accurate watch I've owned.

I wear an all stainless steel Swiss Army watch. Glow in the dark face. 330 feet water resistant. I've been wearing it every day since October 1996.

The best watch I've ever had.
