Anyone Seen Osama?

Tue Oct 26, 2004 4:06 am

I was trying to think back to the last time there has been a confirmed sighting, or a video or audio tape that is confirmed to be of him and could be fairly accurately dated. Is the guy dead or what?

There have been some audio tapes purporting to be from Osama that were released since 9/11, and one or two of them had references to contemporary events that allowed approximate dating. None of them, however, have been determined conclusively to contain his voice. I recall that the CIA was sure it was him on a couple of them, but independent analysts couldn't tell.
I suspect that he's dead.

I read something about him two days ago, but I just can't remember well (now the loud sound that you're hearing, it's me banging my head on the wall).

Anyway, US intelligence knows where he is: in the mountains of western Pakistan (the article I referred to even mention the name of that place). But apparantly the Pakistaneses are not really in a hurry to go and get him.

"Is the guy dead or what?"

Oh no !

We haven't received a new Betamax home video from Osama in a few weeks.

He MUST be DEAD !!
And if he is DEAD, then obviously GWB killed him !
Praise the GREAT Leader, GWB, the vanquisher of Osama, he of the monthly video release specials. The mighty leader has slain the wolf who would come into your home and eat your first born.

He's coming over for group therapy and a 12 step meeting for anger management tonight after he gets done at the Dialasys center, as long as the medicaid van is running on time.

The guy is either dead or wishing martyrdom would hurry its ass up and come. Can you imagine whether this guys has had a solid 8 hours sleep in the last three years?

You know that the most likely place he would be is somewhere in the western world. a guy who has BILLIONS can surely manage to get a fake passport and visa to virtually anywhere. since no goverment agency has high reslulution photos of him a simple shave would probably lead you to belive that he is a normal person.
so WHY the "west"? Simple, every area of the big cities has a "ethink background settlements" now if the FBI were to arrest OBL lets say in NYC and there was no reason to arrest him. with a good lawyer he could get out of it. we learned this in con law "that a non-us citizen arrested without a charge ( they really cant just walk into your house and arrest you on suspicion that you were doing something without proof) cannot be in trail in the US.
It was something like that if anyone needs to know what it exactly sais you can google it.

Also no one likes living in caves. i really dont belive that OBL lived in a cave while in afghanistan. now in the west he would have money and with money you can buy anything.

But hey he just my be a dirtbag and live in a cave somewhere

Unfortunately this is however probably not the case..

Dead or else, he has done his time and succeeded.

Today, the entire planet is dotted with a few active and a lot of dormant terrorist cells, some direct products of his teachings, many copying it.

In the tradition of well organized obscure operations they are not part of an organisation, they are independent and self-sufficient. There is absolutely no way to fight an enemy you do not see.

G. Bush and Co, contrary to what many think, do understand that.
He also knew that he had to do something after 9/11 and that Afghanistan was nothing more than a local and temporary success, at the very best it carried a strong message.

He could have chosen to elaborate on this, together with the 45+ countries that (really) went in with the US, and with a full mandate from the UN.
He choose not, and that is a mistake many will pay dearly for in the years decades to come.

Osama, every morning wakes up, puts on his Nike trainers and tracksuite, ans goes for a jog outside the white house, gets a McDonalds breakfast then goes home and dances to mtv for a bit, gets dressed and gets in his Chevy and goes for a drive. That is his standard routine.

How hard could it be to find a guy in a dessert that is 6.2 with a camel and dialysis machine?

I wonder if he ever looked on the tag of where the technology for his dailysis machine came from or where it was manufactured?

remember straight after the attacks, some radical islamic group first claimed responsiblity for only 30 minutes to pass before they retracted their statememnt, I think they then realised that a hiding second to none would be coming there way then, if they were responsible.

What a liberal really means: I hate Bush so much, I will forget all the people this man helped kill! 9/11? That's old news!

What a conservative really means: I am so blinded by my partisanship that I would even excuse Bush for his greatest failure. (Whether he can admit it or not)

Techrep, maybe you can explain how you think, "not being concerned" about OBL does a service to the victims of 9-11. Your way of thinking is so warped I'm sure it'll be good for a laugh.

The fact that Osama is still alive is a insult to the people who gave their lives on 9-11. Justice has not been done. Your own man went from "Wanted dead or alive" to "I'm not concerned about him." We've seen what this man can do, and the President of the United States of America is not concerned about him! None of this scares you people? Instead of making excuses, for once, what don't you hold him accountable? Are you really that blind?

I've said it before. In 1969 we put a man on the moon. In 2004 we can't find one on earth. For the President to make comments like that, and for those of you that justify those remarks demonstrates a very dangerous thought process. Bush and Cheney have the nerve to warn us about going back to a "pre 9-11 mindset" when that's exactly what they've done.

President Bush said he not concerned about Osama Bin Laden. I challenge all you right wingers on here to take a pause and just think about that fact instead of bashing me, or making the usual excuses like "He's prolly dead" and "we've captured 75% of his men."

I bet you can't just let that sink in rather than trying to justify it.

Joking aside, quite a number of Pakistani troops have died in combat against insurgents in the area thought to be where OBL is hiding out.
Nice gratitude for those dying while fighting essentially your war.

The mindset that says a GBU got him is revealing, he got out of Tora Bora, what messages he has sent since have validated that.
Wishful thinking I'm afraid.

However, saying he cannot operate is missing the point, he hasn't got to, probably never did before 2001, he is a symbol, once a facilitator now a figurehead, every day he is not confirmed dead, the disparate groups he helped found or inspired, draw strength from this, remember they are religious fanatics who think that Allah is keeping him alive.
He did not plan Sept 11th in any detail, he did set the broad policy of attacking the US, the detail was down to others, who had and could live in the West.

But the man it is operationally most important to get is his No.2, the Egyptian who had a hand in the killing of Sadat in 1981, who has formulated the whole AQ doctrine, he essentially thinks that any Muslim who is involved in politics, who is not totally committed to harsh Koranic rule, including anyone who disagrees in the slightest with this, be they officials or simple farmers, should be killed.
OBL brought facilities and fighters to this idea, but this insane doctrine pre-dates OBL's arrival in Afghanistan during the conflict with the USSR, many think the No.2, the 'Spiritual Leader' is the real brains behind the operation, at the level of broad policy.

The US was attacked to get them out of the Mid East and to reign back Western influence generally in Islamic nations, though the situation in Iraq will be seen by them as a plus, casualties and increased distrust of the US in the region, sort of a necessary battle to get the broad strategic aims realized.
That was the idea behind killing Sadat, it was thought the the population of Egypt would rise up in the manner of Iran in 1979, they did not of course, nor elsewhere when attacks have happened, but that won't stop them trying all the same.

It is important as a symbol for OBL to be accounted for, but the idea that this breed of terrorism would end if this happens is false, at least in the short/medium term.

They are not 'jealous of freedom' or of material gain, they despise both.
