Environmental Jobs In The Netherlands-Any Help?

Wed Nov 03, 2004 1:18 pm

To all my A.net friends in the Netherlands:

I have been working in the field of drinking water quality/regulation for the last 2 1/2 years in the U.S., and I have been an organic chemist/environmental chemist for 16 years before that. My girlfriend and I have decided that, if Bush is re-elected, that we are out of here, and Amsterdam is our #1 choice. She teaches English as a second language, and I have a Master's degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering, with a specialty in Fate & Transport of Environmental chemicals. Also, I have a large understanding of pharmaceuticals and other emerging chemicals in the environment. Please, is there any market for these jobs in the Netherlands, and how could you help us out??

Sincerely, Logan22L

John Martin

Don't let the door hit you on the way out. In typical liberal fashion, when the going gets tough, the liberals get going.

Do me a favor grab Babs, Alec B, and a bunch of the other Hollywood types on your way out.

N6376m: Sorry if my convictions bother you. Win or lose, I am disgusted with the vast majority of people in this country. For you to say "don't let the door hit you on the way out," I would say - I hope you don't care about your drinking water (and don't think about bottled water - it's not hardly regulated).

By the way, I was asking anyone in the Netherlands if they knew of any opportunities in my field. Sorry if this bothers you; at least I'll be true to my word. Also, you used to be on my respected users list; now I'm glad I deleted you. I'm sure you don't care-drink up!!!!!!!

Try the Undutchables website.

They usually have good links and info for foreigners looking for work in The Netherlands.

I strongly encourage both you and your wife to look into the Peace Corps. You can go together and with both of your skills you would be perfect and you could still represent positive American values without actually living in Bush's America.

I'm heading to Mali in June.

Logan,

Your convictions don't bother me at all. I completely support your decision to leave the US as a manifestation of your disapproval of our policies. If there's anything I can do to help, let me know.

Decisions are made by those who show up - so I guess we know exactly where you stand on the matter of making America better.

Logan,

Every sector of enterprises is regrouped under an association.
Did you try ? this is the association of NL enterprises of the water (treatment/management/...) sector. At least part of the site is in EN.

bedrijf (bedrijven) = enterprise(s)
reiniging = cleaning/treatment
vereniging(en) = association(s)
drinkwater = self explanatory

Thanks for your replies. Ioakobos, could you give me a bit more context regarding your post?

76M: The way I look at it, as long as I'm putting my abilities to good use, it doesn't really matter where I do it, in the US or elsewhere. Right now, I just need a change.

Why not start trying herehttp://www.monster.com/

PS I believe in your field of expertise You should try the Antwerp or Rotterdam area first, for your qualifications you'll find a lot more good job possibility's in these citys.
You know Antwerp has the biggest petrochemical industry in the world after Houston and the proximity of Brussels will give your girl a lot more opportunity's for a good job.
Also it is a cheaper to own a decent house in Belgium and the healthcare system is said to be one of the best ,if not the best, in the world.
