Totti In Trouble (again).

Fri Nov 05, 2004 9:40 pm

Francesco Totti is i trouble once again. He famously spat at an opponant during the Euro 2004 championship. When his team Rome played against Bayer Leverkausen last wednesday (in an empty stadium due to UEFA punishment following the spectators attacking the ref Anders Frisk), Totti struck again.

Totti clearly lands a blow to Carsten Ramelow with his foot. The ref sees it, but only awards Totti a yellow card. The germans are outraged over the decision. Luigi Del Neri, Rome's manager, afterwards claimed that "football is a men's sport". That didn't lighten up the germans though.

As the ref saw the incident and took action, the UEFA say they will not investigate the episode further.

Is this a red card? Judge for yourselves:

You know, if this had been hockey, the Germans could have kicked Totti's arse.

Certainly looked painful when I seen it on TV.
I noticed the German on the ground there, did he dive down firstly? If so, he deserved to be stamped on  Big grin

I'm quite surprised they didn't. Just because it isn't allowed, doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

We are nice guys, very peaceful, pacifists really, as we all know by now  Big grin Big grin

If he did that to me (and fortunately for him he didn't), he'd be no more amongst us, his team would still be trying to get all the pieces out of the grass and his wife would be working you-know-what in some hellhole in Rwanda to earn some compensation.  Big grin

But seriously: This guy Totti is probably the biggest a$$hole in football nowadays, and the worst thing is: He loves to attack from behind. And all that is pretty sad because he's basically a very good football player with a great career.

Ramelow...could have happened to a nicer guy... Big grin

In the words of John Cleese from Fawlty Towers: "Must remember not to mention the war"  Big grin

Thom@s: If the Brits would just understand that old joke...Cleese himself said once in an interview that he feels only the Germans did get it  Big grin Big grin

Apparently the origins of the Second World War can be found in that 1914 Chritmas Day football match on the Western Front. It was settled by a disputed goal just before the fighting broke out again, when the Germans claimed that a small Welshman named Evans was in a clearly offside position when he nodded home the winner. They're still upset.  Big grin

I fully agree with Andreas. Totti is the biggest a$$hole in soccer. What he did has nothing to do with football. But no wonder it was him, brings back the memories of the EURO2004. I'm no fan of Leverkusen and definitely not of Ramelow, but what this a$$hole did to him is not forgivable. He could have hurt him badly.
But I heard that Totti is one of the most stupid players in Italy. He cannot speak a sentence in English (correct me if that is wrong).

What is even worse is that he wasn't send of. The referee is a coward because he saw the incident and just gave him a yellow card. If UEFA cannot sanction Totti, at least they should kick this referee from international games.

OH Noooooooooo.......

It must be a REALLY quiet day all over Europe when every thread I look at has the names of Andreas, Banco and GKirk in there slugging it out!!

Even if there was a thread about "horse shit found on surface of Mars" or something, it would end up with you guys slagging each other..

Its BLOODY clever how you do it!!

PS As long as I'm making a useless post insulting an Italian player, I might as well add: Cannavaro is a nasty piece of work too.
