Check out www.starwars.com for the link. I'm a bit disappointed, really.

It's the first of many, so don't worry quite yet, Scarlet. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie with my kids in May.  Smile

You are right, but still, I got all excited when I saw the first Episode I trailer, and this one is only mildly interesting. I'm glad to see lots of Wookies though!

So I take it this is the one where Anakin Skywalker marries Padme and gets her pregnant with Luke?, and becomes Darth Vader...

I can see the headlines now:

Don't forget about Luke's twin sister Leia (pronounced Lay-ah).

I'll admit to my geekdom - I downloaded the trailer last week, and then saw it in the theaters as a preview to The Incredibles (which wasn't bad, by the way).

The ENTIRE THEATRE was applauding and hollering "Hell yeah!" when the EpIII trailer was over. It looks awesome, and I can't wait!  Big thumbs up

Let's just hope the film is worthy of the hype; unlike Episode I

April,

I saw it, and kind of liked it. The trick to enjoying the thing is to remember that we are no longer impressionable kids who will sit in awe at the effects and story. We also know how its going to end. For this reason I want Lucas to make the proposed three episodes that were going to follow them.

The people who were expecting Lucas to do better than his groundbreaking, genre starting films had their hopes a bit high.

I'm just going to go and get some popcorn and watch. It'll be worth the $8.

Ian

Speak for yourself, Ian - I'm still an impressionable kid (inside, anyway).  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I agree that I shouldn't feel the same way about this as I did when Star Wars, Empire, and Return all came out - but still when Episode I came out I was very excited to see the first trailer. I was somewhat grown up at that point.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy This one certainly was interesting, but didn't get me excited to see the movie.

I might have to do what EACOAS did and go see The Incredibles to see it on the big screen.

I am just trying to manage expectations for myself....  Big grin

I was pretty pissed off when I saw Episode 1. Jar Jar was the biggest irritation, and I was not really excited about the computerized effects.. Call me old-fashioned but the techniques used to create the first movies seemed more realistic...but then I had never seen anything like it before and now we have seen it all.

Impressionable? I've got 8000 comics in the basement that qualifies me there too.  Laugh out loud

The Incredibles are supposed to be on an IMax screen here, so thats for me.

You can definitely tell the prequels have a different "feel" to them thanks to the CGI instead of the blue-screen effects and intricate modelling that the originals had, but I don't necessarily think it detracts from the story.

Jar-Jar is another story entirely, though - he's as irritating as they come.

Then again, Lucas managed to tick off many Star Wars loyalists with the friggin' Ewoks anyway....  Insane

The Ewoks were actually alot cheaper than the Wookies I think he originally planned on, but Lucas started revising the stories early in the process to make everything more "family friendly" including changing the Revenge of the Jedi to Return of the Jedi, and it was not limited to this.. Greedo did not shoot first and others are examples.

The desire to use ILM CGI is certainly understandable, but the appearance of the modeling and other effects in the earlier movies gave the finished product on the screen a very special look that did not have the cartoon appearance that even the best CGI can still have.

I can't wait until the lineups begin on premier night.

I will have my eyes on Conan O Brien show and hope that Triumph the Insult Comic dog returns for a second visit to the Zeetbelt theatre to slam down hard on the hardcore fans like last time.
