What's Playing On The Reel To Reel? (Weds)

Thu Nov 11, 2004 11:03 am

With this post, I proudly inaugurate a new semi-regular post. Every couple of days, I will shoot a 15 or 20 second video of one of my reel to reels playing a certain song. I will then upload them here....

You all can then guess what the songs are. 'Cuz I'm sure not all of you will recognize all of them. I will take songs from a variety of genres-mainly Classic Rock, a few Oldies, definitely some 80's, some trance occassionally, and some others that will be bound to stump all of you.

Why to do this? Because I'll have fun doing it. Maybe some of you will. At least it will steer some attention away from the political threads which are now, way beyond pointless.

So here's the first one, that some of you should instantly recognize as a 60's era timeless classic.

Man that sounds terible!
Maybe it's my speakers on the computer or poor sound card.
Is that the Rolling Stones?

It's not th best sounding, considering I shot it with a digital camera, but it sounds ok on my computer.

Try a lower volume setting for the speakers... it sounds as if it´s massively clipped. I guess the camera has a pretty limited dynamic range.

Yeah, it was "Gimme Shelter" by the Rolling Stones.

Stand by for another R2R song clip to be posted today. I'll try lowering the volume when I record it so that the sound will be better.

Would you like me to video my computer as Musicmatch Jukebox is going through the playlist?  Wink/being sarcastic

You certainly can if you feel so inclined. But I doubt that it will have the same visual effect as the spinning reels would.

I'm sure Superfly can back me up on this one.
