Travelling Around Nice

Wed Nov 17, 2004 1:17 am

Im off to Nice in January (22-24th) to see the WRC opening stages.
I was wondering how easy is it to get from Nice airport to Monte Carlo, is the transport system "easy" to use.
I know a bit of French so im ok at that, its just im wondering how the transportation system in France is like and wether its quicker going on the bus/train or walking it to Monte Carlo.
Also is anyone else planning to see the WRC on either of those dates, I'll be flying Easyjet from LPL so I might see you on board if you are  Big grin
Finally whats the weather like in January in Nice, ive heard it can get down to -10 and seeming that im camping out I think I'll need a good sleeping bag lol, but does it rain there often?
Thanks

From NCE airport the transport is pretty good. I think there is a bus that goes direct to Monaco,

If not there is a shuttle to NCE station, and there is a local train to Monaco every half hour or so.

I wouldn't try walking to Monaco, its quite a long way along a fairly dangerous busy road (very winding). There is always the helicopter if you want to splash out, but book early for busy weekends.

Hope you have a good trip - NCE is great in January, usually pretty sunny (if not exactly warm, at least pleasant).

Thanks JGPH1A, The only other time ive been to Nice/Monaco/Monte Carlo was when I was about 7, so I dont remember any of it lol, im not sure wether to book a hotel room prior to the WRC, or maybe camp-out in the hills where the stages will be, and wait there.
some very tough decisions and a long tiring weekend when it arrives lol, be worth it to see the WRC cars and drivers.
