Instead of taking the traditional route of purchasing an existing team, Team Dubai F1 are scheduled to be on the grid for the first race of the 2006 season and intend to build the team from scratch, with a little help from others.
According to Arabian Business the team is expected to spend a billion dollars in the first seven years of its operation. However, this equates to $143 million a season, significantly less than many current top-line Formula One teams.
McLaren and Mercedes have already gone on record stating that negotiations are ongoing for cooperation between the two parties. It is expected that the new team will enjoy the use of Mercedes engines, while speculation suggests that the new team will take over and redevelop the old McLaren factory now that Paragon is up and running.
