While it find an incredibly stupid stunt on behalf of the teacher, what I find even more worrying is the fact that the pupils were not little kids but 14-year-olds. And they fell 100% for what their teacher told them? What kind of bubble do they live in? Didn't they think that if such a disaster were to happen, TV, newspapers, internet, etc. would have been full of information on it?

The teacher was pretty stupid, but these 14-year-olds were certainly a lot more stupid, IMHO

What an incredibly stupid thing to do! As a teacher, you should NEVER use your position of authority to scare your students or willingly tell them lies. These students will never trust or respect that teacher again.

JoseMEX,

The teacher was pretty stupid, but these 14-year-olds were certainly a lot more stupid, IMHO

I disagree. I gather from the article that these students were informed of this 'catastrophe' at a gathering, i.e. NOT in their normal classroom situations. They were assembled in a big room, all 300 of them, without having a clue what they needed to be there for. They were then 'informed' of this pending catastrophe, and TOLD TO GO HOME to say farewell to their families!!

An unfamiliar situation and surrounding + a dramatic message = 'success' guaranteed.

If they did this at a company with adults, many would fall for it!

I have heard of people depressed and angry with Bush winning the 2004 election but....
This is probably a person with a very serious mental health problem and needs some long term attention. I hope they get the help they needed and give help with the trauma these kids had.

This has nothing to do with Bush being re-elected.

The purpose of state schooling is to produce easily quantifiable sheeple, not educate. Thus, the reaction of those students does not surprise me.

Lol DeltaGuy Big grin they are... over here, you're generally referred to as a pupil until you leave secondary school (high school to you, I guess). The term "student" is normally applied to University or College students.
