I was fortunate in that I was able to settle some differences with my Dad about 1 month before he died in 2000. I left the hospital that day, certain in the knowledge that I had said my last goodbyes to him, and left there quite at peace with him and myself.
Prepare yourself for the worst case (your mother doesn't make it) and make sure you tell her all the things you want her to know. Consider it your last conversation with her and make your peace with yourself and her.
To everyone else, never forget that the last words you say to someone you love, may in fact be
the last words you will ever have the opportunity to say to them. Never leave a loved one hearing hateful things as your last words to them!
