No Bowl Game For Nebraska!

Sat Nov 27, 2004 7:10 am

Nebraska, suffering their worst football season in over 40 years, won't be going to a bowl game this year - ending their streak of 35 consecutive years with a bowl game appearance.  Big thumbs up

As a CU alumni, I am glad to hear they won today. It would be nice to see Colorado play in one of the Texas bowl games. That might just require my attendance.

Now, oddly enough, I must become a fan of Missouri.

There must be people diving off of buildings in Lincoln and Omaha! I can hear it now: "We have to go to a bowl; We fans will travel anywhere".

This weekend was a great weekend to be me, considering my sports affiliations...let's recap:

Friday: CU clobbers Nebraska 26-20 in Lincoln in a game that was much more of a blowout than it appears... (incidentally today there was a letter in the local paper from a Nebraska fan complaining about the poor sportsmanship of CU fans)

Saturday: Missouri beats Iowa State 17-14 in overtime, giving CU the improbable Big 12 North title... a game which nearly gave me a few heart attacks, though I only saw the last 2 minutes of the fourth quarter and OT due to the UVa -Vtech game being shown in Florida...can't believe that Iowa State kicker missed that chipshot fieldgoal in regulation (missing it, I'm sure, solely on account of me furiously rubbing my lucky CU plush football...I'll be needing that next week for Oklahoma)...we owe Missouri bigtime for their help...Thanks Tigers!

Sunday: Eagles thrash Giants 27-6 and win their 4th straight NFC East title...Buff basketball beats Northwestern 66-57...

Not too bad eh?

GO BUFFS!!! BEAT THE SOONERS!

Greg

Edit: A very fitting 7000th post...I was planning a self-gloss thread around the CU-Nebraska game and our North title, but this is just as good  Smile

Too bad for Nebraska they have just been overrated the last few years thats all that was wrong with them. Of course being overrated is not big deal in this country just ask a certain team from Los Angeles that goes with a three letter name that also stands for university of South Carolina.

I can't believe I'm standing up for USC when I'm a UCLA alumn  Laugh out loud, but seriously what gives with the Pac-10 bias? Whenever a team from the West coast is doing well and high in the ratings, the calls start coming in from ACC and Big-10 fans that the team is "overrated." From a Pac-10'er...go 'SC and go Cal!

Needless to say, I think the Nebraska AD looks pretty stupid for firing Frank Solich (10-3 last year), and I do think Callahan should have waited a year to install the West Coast offense, because the players he had to work with this season were all accustomed to the lame-ass option offense, and Callahan needs some time to recruit West Coast Offense players...their QB this season, Dailey, is an option QB, totally unfit for the West Coast system...5-6, frankly, is quite good given what they were put through...

I doubt that GoVOLS is very much of an ACC or Big 10 fan.

Nebraska sure wouldn't've been able to compile that impressive record if they were in the SEC, that's for sure.

The Broncos-Raiders game, you mean? If so, it was meaningless to me (although it made for great watching, I was on an F9 flight that night, and the entire flight was full of Broncos fans, so it was almost like being at the game...very unique experience)...I only support the Eagles (and in the AFC, I also support Jacksonville, but not quite to the extent I support the Eagles)...
