Improving International Relations With India

Fri Dec 10, 2004 12:01 pm

Would it be wrong of me to threaten nuclear annihilation over the phone to a telemarketer? Big grin

These people call my dorm room 24-7 and it's really getting tiring  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Tell them that in our land, bhudda statues are sold widely as a female vibrator....and you're using one on your girl at the moment, so you'll have to let them go.

Put yourself on a no-call list.

End of story.

Well dang that blows... if that's the case, and you are in your dorm most of the school year, I'd suggest a new plan. I'd consider not being able to call/recieve local numbers to be a justifiable inconvienence. And the dorms I've stayed at charge for a dorm phone, so it your dorm is like this you can at least cut some costs....

Cellphone service in the U.S. have become amazingly competitive since the "Take your number with you" act was signed into law. I switched from T-mobile to Sprint and have equal service... but my particular Sprint plan is waaay cheaper.

I know what you mean. I have trouble understanding them, and I'm Indian! My parents have a hard time with them even though they grew up there. But like Jaysit says, there are ways to circumvent it.

You don't have to own the line to be on the no-call registry. Just click this link:

https://www.donotcall.gov/register/Reg.aspx

All you have to have is a phone number and an email address. That's it. End of story. Just follow the directions and it works!

LOL! It wouldn't be wrong, but it wouldn't work. What's Canada going to bomb anyone with anyway? Maple syrup?  Big grin

For the record, you guys actually get the elite Indian telemarketing troops.

The domestic telemarketers are of a much lower caliber and don't seem to understand that "I'm not interested" doesn't mean "Call back at the same time every day".

I've been getting a call from Standard Chartered Bank all week asking me to sign up for their Executive Mastercard. Trouble is, I already have that exact card from them. I keep telling the guy this, but he doesn't believe me and tries to sell it to me over and over again. It gets really frustrating after a few days.

LOL! ABN Amro were being really aggressive some time ago. This woman kept insisting I get one of their "free" cards though I just didn't want it. Finally, she actually pleaded with me that she was really close to fulfilling her alloted quota of "sales" so if I just took the card and then threw it away, it would be really nice of me!
