Pakistan Times Makes Unforgiveable Error

As pointed out by GLAGAZ, although it starts off by saying Glasgow is Scottish, it then goes on to say:
Speaking on the occasion, City District government Nazim, Mian Amir Mahmood hoped that the English town of Glasgow and Punjab capital

It is horrendous. It's like calling a termite mound a human settlement.  Laugh out loud

You know how many horrible mistakes English-speaking press makes on the geography of foreign places? If everyone was to complain about that then you would not hear the end of it!!

BTW, did the British military update their maps so that next time they actually invade Gibraltar?  Wink/being sarcastic

As a result the Scottish Parliament has considered declaring war. It was decided that even though the Scots could have sent an army (they have several large fishing boats capable of hauling people if they all squeeze in) and could have faced down the large Pakistani Army (there were at least three towns willing to set aside football differences for the expedition)....in the end it was the prospect of impossible logistics that really kept the peace....

there was absolutely no way to feed all those prisoners.

Did you not notice the 800 Black Watch (Scottish) troops watching the backs of US marines near Bahgdad recently. Maybe the Saltires (Scottish Flag) on the tanks weren't large enough. See my other post in the capital thread, I'm feeling patriotic,m we have some of the best regiments and Air Force Squadrons in the world. Not many fising boats however!

Gc Dude, you are making my punch line work even better for me...

but please, accept my word, on the name of my MacIntyre ancestors, that I have nothing but respect for the land of the Black Watch, Nessie, the Bay City Rollers and Sir Sean Connery. You may want to go back to your haggis and single malt prior to posting your reply so as to renew your Scottish ire in order for others to enjoy your witty ripostes......  Wink/being sarcastic  Big grin

in all seriousness...I do appreciate the service and sacrifices made by the British, Scottish included and especially, soldiers throughout our long history of fighting by each others sides. The efforts in Iraq by the Black Watch as well as other regiments and allies will not be forgotten, ever.

Yeah but it still is taking the piss out of the Scottish and their armed forces.

As proud as I am to be British, I am especially proud of living in a Celtic Nation, especially with Scotland.

I believe that the Welsh Guards and the Black Watch as well as other Celtic Regiments should be recognized as some of the strongest and well trained in the British armed forces..

Er no. My reading was that it was actually praising the Scottish forces, by suggesting that though they were fewer in number, they were bound to win.

God, I can't believe that old joke has caused such a reaction.

Most of my Scottish relatives are similarly bereft of a functioning sense of humor, so I will let them go for a while.

BTW...this joke can be used as a Irish one as well. Since I am equal parts Scottish and Irish from my father's family I swap them out.

Idiots ! Everyone nose that actual city of Glasgow is in Ireland you don't get a job for Glasgow city council unless you are a season ticket holder at parkhead that's a fact. But calling greater Glasgow in England is inexcuible I hope the idiot that wrote the article gets his ass sacked and ends up in the gutter.

Could have been worse could a said the city east central Scotland that's would have been terrible and everyone nose Edinburgh in old Scots means English town.

If this article is reported to in the Scottish press there will be quite a few corner shops closed for business LOL.

At least they knew it was somewhere in the British Isles. Most American kids would have said it was somewhere in mainland Europe or in Canada.
