So How Are Yall Spending Your New Years?

Sat Jan 01, 2005 3:05 pm

Actually this is the first one in a couple of years where I haven't been working, so I am at home, watching the 1st Season of Magnum PI which my brother and sister gave me for x-mas, eating chicken in a biskit crackers with port wine cheese and about ready to pop open one of the Guiness Drafts I got with my first Unemployment check and celebrate a new begining...

Hopefully one of the two interviews I did this week will pay off next year.

At home, doing nothing...watched a few episodes of Da Ali G Show with my dad before 12:00 (HBO marathon), then just am sitting here browsing the web for a while after the clock struck midnight...

I just finished packing for a move from Cleveland to Dallas...in about 6 hours I will drive that wonderful CLE-CMH-CVG-Louisville(Its late or else I would remember)-BNA-MEM-LIT (Sleep for the night)-DFW run....map that one on the great circle...and I sure wish I had an Escalade for the trip instead of a midsize car.

Cheers and Felicidades!

Quiet one at home with the family.

Seen enough new years events to not get excited about this time of year.
By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

I went to a party during which a delightful individual poured vodka over my top then set fire to me. Thankfully only my hair and clothes got burnt.

It was a fun night other than that!

My New Years was a real crappy night. I got punched in the face for no reason and had to go to the hospital to get 8 stitches on my lip.

I was at home, my girlfriend is suffering from the flu and I didn't want to go on a party while she is sick. I got drunken anyway with a few beers and a bottle of champagne, I just woke up and I am feeling terrible, will have a shower now, then buy a box of smokes, drink a few beers and surfing on A.net.

Spending my time in Banff, Canada on a skiing holiday with my family. The weather has not been very nice so I barely spend any time on the slopes. Sitting in my room and watching Smallville on my laptop. Great fun  Yeah sure

Considering going to see the Aviator again.....not for the flying, because there is none ..... but for the sets (interior of the Chrysler Building) and wardrobe (anything on Kate as "Kate")....best line, "I'm Tasmanian, you imbecile!" (Jude Law as Eroll Flynn)

Considering moving to a country where scotch is illegal..... (but probably will feel differently this evening  Laugh out loud)

My first ever New Year's away from home (I'm a US expat studying in London)!

Missed my whole family.

Went down to the Embankment in London and watched Big Ben strike midnight and the fireworks at the London Eye. I had to fight my way through huge, crushing crowds with my Nikon N-65 and tripod, but I found a spot and shot the fireworks at the Eye from across the Thames.

Today, I went to Trafalgar Square, fought my way again through crowds, and finally got a spot at the fence to see the entire New Year's London parade.
What a spectacle! I even saw a marching band from my home state (Indiana) marching in the parade. The parade was from 12-3pm.

I spent the rest of my day today browsing in Waterstone's and Borders bookstores (I love to spend HOURS in those places looking at Star Trek, UFO, and music books!).

I've got to get back to LHR sometime within the next week or so--if the sun comes out again! I haven't been there to shoot since 23 Dec.

I went to a house party last night with some friends and had a GREAT time. Unfortunately, I am paying for it dearly today with a bad hangover, an unstable belly and a foggy memory. Aside from the beer at the pre-party, I drank two full bottles of Bollinger champagne.

I don't usually drink that much, so I am hurting today.

That's sexy, why did you two break up?  Wink/being sarcastic

I drank a lot of beer last night. I had one glass of champaigne and woke up this morning with the worst hangover. I sat around the first part of the day feeling like I was gona hurl. I also got kicked out a bar with all my friends. It was kind of a fun new years, but it was hardly something to remember.

I stopped in, I went to bed at 12.05am, I don't like New Year. Then I went to work at 8am (overtime, I must have mug written on my forehead) and finished at 6pm, and been on here since then.

Happy New Year everyone, lets just hope this year is better than last year.

Went to my aunt's house with all my family, saw the Cerro Calán fireworks show, and at 00:30 am went to a huge party until 7:00am. BTW, we got stuck in huge traffic jams as we had to cross the entire city for getting to the party, and everybody was going out.

Happy new year to all of you.

I had 25 or so kids come to my house and I made them all give me their keys....Then we proceeded to drink the 400+ cans of Labatts and Coors we got and 10 pizzas until about 8am this morning (I had to have a few more beers at 9am just to get myself out of bed) Cleanup was annoying...but thank god for the girls that came to my party...they stayed until my house looked immaculate!

Had a dozen or so friends over, pretty tame evening, drank, ate, played Cranium (best was watching my favourite neighbour from across the street act out "tornado"), smooched at midnight, drank, ate, slept, woke up with a headache. Ate, drank, cleaned up. Just getting caught up on dishes now. Whew! Happy New Year!

My wife and I spent the last 2 weeks re-arranging the house, painting rooms upstairs and getting little sleep in the process. The day after Christmas my sister
and her 2 children (ages 6 and 3)0 arrived for a 4 day visit and our house was
chaos. So..we spent NYE doing nothing..were in bed by 11, watched the ball drop and went to sleep.

Let's see...

From what I can remember...

Drove half an hour at to Arlington, the site of my friend's party. Forgot my wallet with ID and credit cards (I needed to buy beer). Drove back to Dallas, drove to Arlington...again. Go to my fraternity brother's house, he's having party. Probably about fifty people, lots o' talent. Get drunk. Go out to the car to make a phone call. When I'm done, as I'm walking back towards the house. There is a huge group of people pushing and shoving including some ghetto trash that I had never seen before. A few of my brothers are just going at it with this one jackass and beating the shit out of him (turns out that he threw a brick through a window of the house when he was told that he and his homies couldn't come in). This one guy shoves my friend, I push him back. Out of nowhere, the guy jacks me in the nose. I'm more surprised than anything, but I still decked him on the side of the face, I was aiming for the eye. At that point, my big brother steps in and just starts pounding the crap out of the piece of ghetto trash that hit me. They eventually drive away after getting sufficiently beaten.

The cops show up. We're all rounded up and told to sit in the house. My nose is bleeding, but it's not broken. My story is just that I got jacked in the nose out of nowhere. They bought it, nobody got arrested for fighting. I really didn't feel like pressing charges either. The only person who got arrested was the kid that owned the house since he was supplying alcohol to minors.

Worked the ramp from 8-3, then flew up to ATL on the DL 763, chilled there and had dinner with my father, then met up with my hot lady friend from college, she was coming from Harrisburg, PA (MDT)...we hopped on the 762 back to JAX together, I got THE last seat on Ship 102, the Spirit of Delta...we touched down at JAX about 30 minutes before the new year, then I just hung with my friend till her parents showed up...snuck in the new years kiss with her too Big grin

Rode off in my direction, made it to the tail end of a pretty good party, then crashed at home at 0300...fun stuff...welcome 2005, we're one year closer to graduation for me  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I'll short-hand this:

I got to Seattle about noon. Started drinking on Capitol Hill about 6PM. I hit 4 different bars by 10PM and found my way to "my spot" on Queen Anne Hill (I'd tell you but then I would have to send you a very strongly worded memo  Big grin ). Watched the fireworks at midnight off of Space Needle. Exchanged comments about how the start was very disappointing: they just started whereas normally, they turn off all the lights on Space Needle and send an elevator up. Drank my three baby bottles of champagne: two for my friends that decided to stay home and one for me, then found my way back to the clubs. It was all a blur till I decided to be at SEA to see the new arrivals hall....

It was a sunny and cloudless (albeit cold) New Years Day at HKG, and I went to the airport for a day of spotting/photographing. Caught Continental's "Peter Max" 777 doing its first flight of 2005 to EWR.  Big thumbs up

I fell asleep at 10:30pm. No new year countdown for me this year.

I would usually just watch the countdown on TV, then see actual firework display from my own backyard. That's it. But this year, no new year event whatsoever was broadcasted on TV, and all fireworks licences for the new year have been revoked. All this in honour of the tsunami victims. Malaysia alone suffered 66 deaths so far.  Sad.
