Germany´s government has decided to increase financial support for regions hit by the tsunami to 500 million EUR (~650 million US$). Target areas are mainly Sri Lanka and Sumatra. In addition the German public has so far raised close to 100 million US$. The large supply vessel "Berlin" is currently on its way into the desaster-hit region, and within the next few days a mobile hospital will be deployed to Sumatra to restore medical capabilities in this part of Indonesia. In addition several GO- and NGO
organisations from Germany are operating in various parts of the region. Well, for once this government has done something right... now - there are other places in the world which could need some help as well.
