Why Are Moscow Hotels So Expensive?

Sun Jan 09, 2005 11:47 am

I was pricing Moscow hotels online for this summer for a few nights (stop-over) and I noticed that the vast majority of western brands (Sheraton, Marriott, Hyatt, etc..) were all highly priced. The Park Hyatt is asking around 400-520 USD per night.

It might be because even the capital of the former Soviet Union arrived in the era of market economies.  Big grin

We were in Moscow recently. You can stay MUCH more cheaply if you don't need anything fancy...

For example, we stayed at the Ismailovo hotel for only about $52 a night in a double room! Nothing fancy, but clean and fine, and with a great view from the 28th floor...
