Anyone Got MSN Messenger Beta (7.0)

Sun Jan 09, 2005 10:35 pm

Has anyone downloaded the new messenger? I got it a couple of days ago, and someone I know has a sort of paint thing where you can draw pics to send to others. I don't have this but does anyone else have it? Apparently, only selected few have it as it's only being tested at the minute.

Hence the name Beta!

Beta is not a name Beta is the second letter of the Greek alphaBet...
The letter is the same with B in capital and â in lower case (in the German language it sounds like an S) and in the Greek language it sounds like a V.
But what it means in the computer language is something that i don't know.
So by disturbing your peace of mind I just finished my 200th post.
Cheers!

I've had it for a few weeks, its quite good I guess although there's some little things which need sorting. Its widely available if you do a search for it on Google.

I have MSN 7.0 and I like it. The features I like the most are to be able to login in any mode (i.e. appearing offline), I like the draw feature, and I like the nudge too.

I have it ... the nudge thing is cute ... plus all the funky "winks". The big kiss is flagrant lol.

Makes MSN fun to use.

The first thing I noticed when I got it was how much slower it was than whatever the hell I had before (6.0?). But it is nice to be able to sign in in any mode, see people's display pictures when they sign in, and see emoticons in display names.

Alpha, Beta, Gamma...

The terminology A, B (and there was a C also) applied to software dates back from the 60's and was created by IBM to define three specific stages of development.

Today only Alpha (in-house testing) and Beta (out-house testing) remain.
It basically applies to a software in the final phases of development, prior to final tweaking and release for retail/usage.

It might be compared to a pre-production in a manufacturing process.

SXFAN, to make it simple (?) can we say that the Greek B is the kind of sound that erupts when the (foreign) speaker did not know if he was to pronounce a B or a V but inadvertently let the air slip through his lips.  Big grin

Got it. I've had it for a few weeks now, and no problems. Only difference are the additional winks and nudge etc. No other improvements as far as I've noticed.
