Roethlisburger has been pretty bad the last 5 weeks of the season
I disagree. Roethlisberger's really only had one bad game the last five games - Week 14 against the Jets, a game in which his favorite vertical-passing receiver, Burress, was absent, and the Jets were defending Hines Ward with two and three DB
's. He doesn't put up Peyton Manning-like numbers (as he hasn't all season), but he's still winning games and making great plays. He also had two comeback wins in that stretch, against Jacksonville and the Giants.
He's 5-0 in those last five games - I'd hate to see what you'd think of some of the other quarterbacks around the league.
Week 12 - vs. WAS: 9/20 (45.0%), 131 yds
Week 13 - at JAX
: 14/17 (82.4%), 221 yds, 2 TD
Week 14 - vs. NYJ: 9/19 (47.4%), 144 yds, 2 INT
Week 15 - at NYG: 18/28 (64.3%), 316 yds, 1 TD
, 2 INT
Week 16 - vs. BAL: 14/19 (73.7%), 221 yds, 2 TD
, 1 INT
Week 17 - at BUF
: (did not play)
he's lucky they've been able to shield him from throwing many passes, but wait until their losing in the playoffs
He doesn't have to win games for them. He makes enough key plays to put the offense in a position to score, and the league's best defense (both in yards allowed and points allowed), and a dominant running game do the rest. The Steelers also lead the league in time of possession. It's hard to score when your offense isn't on the field, and when they are - they have to face the league's best defense.
